Chapter 4688 The X Royal Family: Demise (Part 9)
“It’s not time to give up, Emma,” Professor X said, his tone still gentle. But it seemed that in the White Queen’s eyes, he was already a dead man.
The White Queen was so engrossed in her fear that she couldn't speak for a moment. Professor X continued, "We are working on a top-secret project that we didn't have time to complete before—the Totem Resurrection Project."
The White Queen still wasn't listening to him, so Professor X had to say, "We asked Mr. Sinister to preserve the genes of all the mutants who joined, and the Clarkia Totem can use these genes to hatch entirely new bodies. All I need to do is inject the backups of the mutants stored in my brainwaves into these new bodies, and they can be resurrected."
These words finally jolted the White Queen awake. She swallowed hard, straining to suppress her chaotic thoughts, and then said, "Resurrection?"
“That’s right. Mutants can now resurrect indefinitely,” Professor X said. “So even when facing the incredibly powerful Mother Model, we are not entirely without a fighting chance.”
"How come I didn't know about this plan?" the White Queen pressed.
Professor X sighed and said, "I'm sorry, Emma, this is still my fault. I was busy participating in the multiverse war, which caused many of our plans to be delayed. We only completed the totem experiment two days ago. We weren't sure if it would be successful, so we didn't tell you."
Schiller knew that this plan played a crucial role in the comics. In the comics, the raiding party was also wiped out, only revived thanks to the Clarkia Totem and Professor X's mental backup.
At the same time, this act of resurrection greatly encouraged the mutants, making them unafraid to fight, which led to the bright future of Clarkia.
However, the butterfly effect was too powerful. Professor X focused some of his energy on the multiverse, causing this project, which should have been completed long ago, to be shelved until today. If Schiller hadn't brought it up, Professor X wouldn't have even considered doing it.
It wasn't that they didn't want to revive their team members, but in the comics, even though the people died, the raid was successful. Reviving them would mean zero loss for them. But now, the people are dead, and the raid failed. Their primary concern is the powerful enemies produced by the Red Gate Orchid Factory; they don't have the resources to research revival.
In fact, they haven't figured it out yet. Professor X is deceiving the White Queen. They haven't been able to perfectly hatch the body yet.
"Then...did they hatch?" the White Queen asked.
“The totem is fine now. The problem lies with my mind,” Professor X said with some helplessness. “My mind has been severely damaged, and the mental backups of the mutants in my mind have also been lost. If I can’t recover, even if I hatch a body, I won’t be able to move.”
The White Queen vigorously wiped her face. She tried to pull herself together and said, "What's wrong with you? How can you recover? Will the flower of Krakya help?"
Professor X shook his head and said, "The Flower of Clarkia is not a panacea. Emma, I need your help. You need to help me sort out my chaotic mental world and find the mutant's mental backup in order to save our people."
“Of course I would be happy to do so,” the White Queen stepped forward and said, “but tomorrow is the United Nations General Assembly, and I…”
“You can’t go,” Schiller suddenly said.
The White Queen immediately looked at him. She hadn't noticed Schiller at all before, assuming he was Professor X's student or something. After all, Professor X had countless students, and it seemed like all mutants had studied under him, so it was normal for an unfamiliar face to suddenly appear.
However, Professor X's students wouldn't speak in that tone. While they could be rude at times, they were always hesitant and indecisive. The White Queen disliked this type of personality and therefore didn't particularly want to deal with the X-Men. Schiller's decisive tone, on the other hand, caught her attention.
"Who are you?" the White Queen asked, squinting her eyes.
“I am Professor Xavier’s friend and also a psychiatrist. I’m here to help him.”
"Are you human?"
“Not entirely,” Schiller said. “We’ll talk about me later; we need to talk about you. What do you think will happen at the UN General Assembly tomorrow?”
The White Queen's face darkened. She felt that Schiller was deliberately bringing up a sore spot, but she was unwilling to admit that none of the topics were relevant, so she simply kept a straight face and remained silent.
“It won’t end well,” Schiller said. “The raiding party failed in its mission and was wiped out. This is a shot in the arm for humanity. They were already unwilling to acknowledge the establishment of a nation in Krakia. This victory will surely embolden the opposition, and they will use this defeat of the mutants at the United Nations General Assembly to ridicule and suppress you to the fullest extent, so that you will give up your plans to establish a nation.”
“We will not give up!” said the White Queen. “Never!”
"Yes, I completely believe you. You can argue your case and debate with everyone at the UN General Assembly, ma'am. But as a successful diplomat, you also know you can't win, can you?"
The White Queen pressed her lips tightly together, staring at Schiller with murderous intent. Schiller continued, "Magneto and Professor X couldn't bear to see you humiliated, so they brought in the Black King."
The White Queen paused slightly, slightly taken aback. Magneto then realized what Schiller and Professor X were up to, and immediately chimed in, "That's right, Emma. The UN General Assembly is destined to be a humiliating inferno for mutants. Every vile word you can imagine will be used to refer to us. And your rebuttal won't bring victory. Defeat in war inevitably leads to diplomatic failure. Since the defeat in war is our fault, the consequences of diplomatic failure shouldn't be borne by you. That's not fair to you."
“But I have to at least try,” said the White Queen. “I can’t let them humiliate us; we have to at least teach them a lesson!”
“That’s the problem, madam,” Schiller began. “If you lose control at the UN General Assembly, it will be a complete diplomatic failure, and those who are inclined to support you and your allies will be afraid to approach you again. We’re keeping you out of the picture in the hope that your absence will preserve your last political resources for the future.”
The White Queen frowned, lost in thought. She finally pulled herself out of her emotional turmoil and began to consider things seriously. She had to admit that Schiller was right.
This UN General Assembly will undoubtedly be a diplomatic offensive against mutants, and it's likely that all nations will unite to oppose the establishment of a mutant nation. To achieve this goal, they will certainly launch a barrage of verbal attacks, listing all the crimes of mutants and relentlessly vilifying them.
The White Queen knew her own temper well. If anyone dared to humiliate her like that, she would certainly not let them off. But she also knew very well that the United Nations General Assembly was not a place for her to act recklessly. Killing or mind-controlling all the ambassadors would not solve the fundamental problem.
The White Queen even suspected that, to prevent her from taking action, they might have planted sentinel robots in advance. If she dared to make any unusual move, those people could kill her without any repercussions.
Every move she makes at the UN General Assembly will be judged. If anything goes wrong, the support she has already secured, especially for her and the Hellfire Group, will crumble in an instant.
Therefore, the best course of action now is to remain inactive. By not showing herself, her supporters have the option to observe and wait, rather than risking global condemnation to support a terrorist who is carrying out massacres at the United Nations. She cannot give humanity the opportunity to slander and prosecute her.
"But why Sebastian?"
When the White Queen asked the question, everyone breathed a sigh of relief. It meant she had agreed, but she was still unhappy that Sebastian had to attend the conference.
“We’re not here to humiliate the Black King,” Professor X explained. “I’ve already instructed Sebastian to emphasize the feud between the two of you. It’s no secret within Hellfire Clique, and ambassadors from various countries have probably heard about it.”
"What's the point of this?" The White Queen frowned.
“This makes it seem to humans that mutants are still fighting amongst themselves,” Schiller said. “So it was Magneto and Professor X. But ordinary people already know that the two of them have joined forces, so if they pretend to have broken up, it wouldn’t be believable. But you and Black King are different. You two have always been mortal enemies. You even actually drove him out of Hellfire Corp., which is solid proof of your discord.”
The White Queen still didn't quite understand, so Schiller continued to explain: "In the past, Magneto and Professor X were at odds, and humans felt that mutants weren't strong enough because no matter what one side wanted to do, the other side would interfere. This is what's called 'using mutants to fight mutants,' and they've been implementing this plan all along."
"However, in the early stages of the Clarkia nation-building plan, you prematurely demonstrated your unity, which made humanity believe that the plan to incite infighting among mutants had failed. That's why the Redgate Factory and the master mold were created to deal with the united mutants."
The White Queen frowned deeply. She realized that it seemed to be true. Mutants weren't new, and they weren't even trying to establish a nation for the first time. They had tried twice before, but humans hadn't managed to create any factories or prototypes.
This time, unlike previous times, old adversaries Magneto and Professor X have joined forces. Even the previously relatively independent Hellfire Group has united with them, making the mutant community seem like a monolithic entity. Humanity is forced into a corner; after all, how powerful must one be to defeat a completely united group of mutants? Without creating a sufficiently powerful superweapon, humanity might face extinction. Faced with extinction crises, humanity has always been able to unleash astonishing potential.
The White Queen finally understood. She said, "It seems we were too high-profile before. We shouldn't have announced the founding of the nation so early, and we certainly shouldn't have let them know that we have united."
“That’s right, but it’s too late to say that now. The remedy is to create another divided mutant population,” Schiller said. “We have to convince them that mutants are still not of one mind, that their power has been greatly weakened, and that they are currently busy fighting among themselves and have no time to exterminate humans before they will lower their guard.”
“I understand.” The White Queen tilted her head slightly. “You want to turn me and the Black King into the new Magneto and Professor X to deceive humanity.”
“Going a step further.” Schiller smiled. “After all, no matter how much Professor X and Magneto disagree, they have never harmed each other’s fundamental interests. But you have completely kicked the Black King out of the center of power, which proves that the enmity between you two is even greater than theirs. No shrewd politician would pass up the opportunity to take advantage of this.”
