Chapter 4684 The Demise of the X Royal Family (5)

Chapter 4684 The X Royal Family: Demise (Part 5)

The anti-gravity laboratory is located beneath the island of Krakia, appearing as a transparent hemisphere submerged beneath the island. Everything inside is upside down, but once inside, due to gravity, it feels no different from being on the ground.

When Schiller entered, he saw a woman with golden-brown hair wearing a researcher's uniform. He understood that the entire story of this mutant in the universe began with her. Moira's nine reincarnations were the most important reason why Professor X was determined to establish a nation in Clarkia.

Moira is a unique mutant. She has experienced nine reincarnations, witnessing all the tragic fates of mutants. In one of those reincarnations, she was told that she could not reincarnate indefinitely. There were only ten reincarnations. If, in the final reincarnation, they still could not defeat Nimrod, the mutants' greatest enemy, she and the mutants would cease to exist.

She told Professor X the story. Professor X understood that mutants had no other choice. So, the two of them visited Magneto, who had chosen to live in seclusion, and embarked on a journey to rebuild utopia.

Schiller walked in, and Moira turned around first. She looked shocked, but Professor X had already noticed. He turned to look at Schiller, not wearing the fourth-generation brainwave amplifier he always wore, the large helmet with the X symbol that could be worn directly on his head.

“Professor,” Schiller called out, “we don’t have much time left.”

“Yes,” Professor X said, “the UN vote is the day after tomorrow. If the raiding party is wiped out, we’ll probably only get a veto.”

“Forget about the UN General Assembly,” Schiller said. “It’s useless. It’s not the key to whether mutants can successfully establish a nation. We need another plan.”

When Stark arrived at the main base with Magneto, he was once again awestruck by its beauty. It was a palace entirely made of stone, with ancient, moss-covered bricks carved with beautiful vine patterns, and colorful crystals inlaid in the openwork dome. In the very center of the hall was a deep blue pool, and in the center of the pool stood a tall tree. The tree's leaves were lush and verdant, and sunlight filtered through the dome and through the leaves, scattering golden hues onto the blue pool, creating a hazy, dreamlike scene.

On either side of the pool are reception areas, furnished with tables and chairs in the same naturalistic style, as well as flower-shaped chandeliers. Sunlight streams in through the pointed crystal floor-to-ceiling windows, creating a warm and comfortable atmosphere.

But this peaceful and beautiful atmosphere was soon broken, as a group of people walked out from the back door of the hall, led by the main universe's Iron Man in his mecha suit.

He paused for a moment when he saw Stark, then flew up to him in a flash, looked down at him, and said coldly, "Which universe's Iron Man are you from? Didn't you receive our message?"

Stark was in a very good mood. Besides the relaxation of not having to take care of the children, the beautiful scenery of Clarkia and the refined taste of the mutants gave him a sense of being on vacation. He generously decided not to hold a grudge against the main universe's Iron Man.

“Got it,” Stark said with a hint of sarcasm. “That’s one of the dumbest messages I’ve ever read in my life. Your tone and manner sound like Nero. I’ve never seen a superhero support someone else with that kind of attitude.”

“We’re just making sure no one can interfere with our work,” the main universe Iron Man said. “People from all universes are just swarming here and making this place look like a cheap mall. One Avengers is enough.”

“There is indeed only one Avengers team here,” Stark said. “The Avengers from my universe didn’t come.”

"You came alone?!" the main universe Iron Man exclaimed incredulously. "What are you doing here all by yourself?"

“Tourism.” Stark was too lazy to talk to him anymore. He walked to the bar next to the hall. The green-haired Polaris looked up at him, seemingly annoyed, and sat at the bar without saying a word.

"Madam, you seem to be in a bad mood. Would you like me to make you a drink?"

“Get out of here,” said Polaris, “or I’ll grab your tin can and… wait. You’ve finally decided to take off that tin shell of yours, Mr. Luncheon Meat?”

“You’ve mistaken me for someone else,” Stark said. “I’m from another universe.”

"What's the difference?" Polaris didn't even lift an eyelid. "Clarkia doesn't welcome non-mutants. You'll all be getting out sooner or later. Don't get in my way. I don't have that kind of good temper."

“I’m just here for a vacation,” Stark said, resting his chin on his hand. “I’m tired of taking care of the kids at home and want to find a quiet place to stay for a couple of days.”

"With a child? You have a child?" Polaris was a little surprised.

"Yes, she's a bit naughty and always bothers me."

"So you just abandoned her like that?"

"Or you can think of it as, if I don't leave her for a few more days, I'll soon have nothing left to teach her. And my universe will have a fifth Omega-level troublemaker."

"What kind of ridiculous evaluation is this?" Polaris chuckled. "Who are the top four?"

“You should be familiar with these. One is Franklin, the son of Richards, another is Thomas Rogers, the son of Captain America, and the two children of Scarlet Witch, those brothers.”

"Are they all mutants? Is your daughter one too?"

“Morgan is not a mutant, but her destructive power is in no way inferior to theirs.”

“That’s an exaggeration,” Polaris said. “How could your daughter be more destructive than an Omega-level mutant?”

Stark smiled but didn't say anything. Then a metal can plopped down next to him, its visor flashing. "You're from the central universe, right?"

"How did you figure that out?" Stark asked with great interest.

“There are too many weirdos where you are,” the main universe’s Iron Man said. “Why aren’t you wearing your suit?”

“I don’t want to wear it,” Stark said. “Don’t you think you look completely out of place on the island dressed like this?”

“I’m not here to take touristy souvenir photos,” said the main universe Iron Man. “We’re here to fight the enemy.”

"Who is the enemy? Mutants?"

“We’re here to help the mutants.” The main universe’s Iron Man paused for a moment, then said, “We’re working on how to remove the last pillar of the master form. It’s a very serious technical problem.”

“Then you can do your serious research,” Stark sighed and said to Polaris. “At least give me a whiskey, ma’am. Or champagne will do.”

Polaris placed a whole bottle of whiskey on the bar with an annoyed expression and held out his hand to Stark: "That'll be $2000."

“What? That’s too expensive!” Stark picked up the bottle of whiskey and looked at it. “It’s just a very ordinary bottle of whiskey, the kind that would probably only sell for a few dozen dollars outside.”

“No way,” Stark said. “Even if I factor in logistics and warehousing costs, I still can’t sell it for that price. You can’t rip me off like this.”

“Who told you to be a rich guy?” Polaris said. “Besides, this is the price at tourist attractions. Take it or leave it.”

"Lorna!" Magneto called out, frowning. "Stop messing around!"

Polaris had no choice but to put on a stern face, and with a gesture as if he were beating up a planet, he cracked open the glass and slammed it down in front of Stark, stuffing an ice ball into it.

“No need for you to pour the wine, ma’am.” Stark quickly snatched the bottle and poured it himself. He was afraid Polaris would smash the bottle over his head later.

"What kind of attitude is this?" the main universe's Iron Man said, clearly displeased. "We're here to help. It's one thing if you don't offer us good drinks, but even a bottle of ordinary whiskey would be more than enough..."

“Are you busy?” Stark interrupted him. “Can’t you get back to your serious technical problems and stop bothering me?”

Iron Man from the main universe slammed his hand on the bar counter.

"Tony!" Captain America walked over, gave Stark and Polaris an apologetic gesture, and then dragged the main universe Iron Man away. The main universe Iron Man was still grumbling, but the two quickly disappeared into the hall.

Stark watched the direction he had left in, while Polaris stared at him, seemingly sensing something was amiss. Stark turned back to Polaris and said, "His Jaeger was equipped with an anti-magnetic jamming system, presumably specifically designed for you and your father."

"What?!" Polaris's eyes widened. "I knew they were up to no good! I'm going to tell..."

“Calm down,” Stark said in a low voice. “Your father must have told you not to get into a conflict with them. Do you know why?”

Polaris abruptly flung his hand away again: "Who knows! I didn't ask them for help!"

"Because they're here to help. If you fight with them, no one will ever want to help you again. So even if they haven't been effective yet and their attitude is terrible, you just have to put up with it. But..."

Polaris looked at him, pursed her lips tightly, and said, "You're more like here to laugh than to help, aren't you? You're not mutants at all, and you can't possibly be on our side. I've known that for a long time."

“There are no permanent friends, only permanent interests,” Stark said. “Even mutants aren’t entirely of one mind, let alone other races. It’s impossible to expect others to be friendly to you for no reason. They want to use you to gain prestige, and you can certainly use them in return.”

"They've been here for two days and still haven't figured out how to deal with the Red Gate Orchid Factory. Every time our people offer suggestions, they say that if our plan worked, the raid team wouldn't have been wiped out. But they're just dragging their feet like this, and the master model is only getting stronger!"

Polaris anxiously scratched his head. Stark took a sip of his drink and then said, "Do you have any information on the Red Gate Orchid factory?"

“…I don’t,” Polaris said. “I don’t understand those things. But Magneto and the others should have them. I remember them saying they seemed to have figured something out, but I haven’t seen it.”

“Could you get me the information?” Stark said. “That Iron Man suit has something in place to protect you. He might not be going all out, and could even do something underhanded. His conclusions can’t be taken at face value. Maybe I can take a look for you; it’ll be an extra layer of security.”

Polaris looked very gloomy. After a long while, she came to her senses and said, "I'll have Blink think of a solution. But according to Magneto, they're not entirely stalling for time; that factory is very difficult to deal with. I've given up on expecting any progress from you scientists."

"That's not necessarily true, madam. I've been in charge of the solar system development project in the central universe, and I also established the Mercury base. Perhaps I can bring you some surprises?"
