Chapter 4545 The Day of Brightest Day (4)

Chapter 4545 The Day of Brightest Light (Part 4)

In fact, the Batmen are never unprepared, especially when they're visiting the universe of the infamous Nameless Bat. Almost every one of them leaves a safety message for the Justice League. Every so often, the others receive different messages. A delay or an incorrect message indicates that Batman might be in trouble.

This mechanism allows those universes that have lost Batman to immediately realize that he might be in danger. They then assemble according to the contingency plan Batman left behind. However, the biggest problem with Batman's contingency plan is that without Batman, its effectiveness is significantly reduced.

For example, in the Batman universe, Superman successfully assembled the Justice League. But they had no idea what to do next.

“We should go to his universe,” Wonder Woman said. “Whatever he’s been through, we have to get him out of there.”

“That’s the problem. If Batman encounters danger in that universe, it proves that it may have been completely overrun. Going there now would be like walking into a trap.” Martian Manhunter frowned.

Their argument mainly focused on this. One group wanted to rush in and rescue Batman, while the other wanted to take a longer approach. It wasn't about respecting the enemy, but about respecting Batman.

It's an obvious fact: if Batman were to perish without warning or even a sound, even if he weren't dead, the enemy he faced would undoubtedly be incredibly powerful. And if all of them recklessly stepped into a trap to save Batman, never to return, what would happen to their own universe?

Darkseid's threat is imminent. Although the fake Superman he cloned using the Omega Rays has caused chaos in Apocalypse Realm more than once, Darkseid still has the resources to keep his eyes on Earth. To simply abandon the situation would be tantamount to handing Earth over to another.

They debated this issue for a long time, but ultimately they all looked to Superman. Without Batman, he was the absolute core and leader of the Justice League, and ultimately it was up to him to decide what the Justice League should do.

“I know Batman very well,” Superman said. “The purpose of the safety message he left us wasn’t for us to rush to his rescue the moment we realized something was wrong. But in the face of a crisis that could threaten him, we must also race against time. The most important thing is to do something useful as quickly as possible.”

Diana could almost hear the buzzing of the superbrain working at full speed. It was a strange sensation, even allowing her to feel the winds of mental disturbance in the real world. Kryptonians were truly amazing.

“As far as I know, he didn’t go alone,” Superman continued. “There were other Batmen who went too. So I need to contact the other Batmen first and ask them what happened to him.”

"You've already sent the message?"

"Yes. But I can't contact the other Batmen directly, so I messaged the other Supermen. They haven't replied yet."

How long do we have to wait?

“We don’t need to wait, because if the Supermen in other universes don’t respond, it means their Batman might also be having problems. They should also be eager to find out from others.”

"My God," Cyborg shook his head and said, "it's hard to imagine what kind of disaster could wipe out so many Batmen. Why is the Black Death Emperor so powerful?"

“We’ve known all along that he’s a multiverse-level catastrophe. The Batmen were prepared to sacrifice themselves when they came together. I’m going to see them in a bit. You all stay here and wait for my news.”

"That's all we can do," Neptune sighed softly.

Superman didn't keep them waiting long. It was almost a quick round trip. He only went for a few minutes before reappearing before everyone, who all looked at him eagerly. But he shook his head and said, "It's not convenient to discuss the Battle Realm in detail. We need to go to the main universe."

This made everyone somewhat uneasy. They knew very little about the other universes in the multiverse, especially the so-called main universe. They also didn't know how the importance of universes was ranked. But since it was called the main universe, it must have something special about it. Would the Justice League there be different?

Fortunately, Superman knew more about this. He reassured him, “Most Justice Leagues in most universes are the same. You’ll see our counterparts there. They’re like us, but different. But right now, we have to ignore those little differences and unite to deal with the disaster. They’re not necessarily doing any better than us in that regard.”

This reassurance was effective. They realized that with so many Justice Leagues across the multiverse, it was impossible for them to value Batman so highly. Losing Batman would be a major catastrophe for any universe. Even if others had experienced something similar, they couldn't possibly cope. As long as they remained calm, they wouldn't behave any worse than the others.

Indeed, the chaos was indescribable when they descended into the main universe through the portal.

A Superman in a white suit is pinning another Superman to the ground and beating him. Two other Supermen are trying to break up the fight. Another Superman, who looks more like Doomsday than a human, is preparing to join the battle with a Superman in a blue cape. But a younger Superman isn't so optimistic; he's flying in mid-air, looking distressed at the situation below.

However, this is only Superman. There's another figure even more striking: a Batman who doesn't quite look like Batman. His uniform style makes him look a bit like an owl, and he's surrounded by many Wonder Women and other members of the Justice League. This is clearly not a friendly scene.

Then there was a whole bunch of Batmen with bizarre art styles, gathered together discussing something. The Supermen fighting nearby weren't even the center of their conversation. The whole scene was chaotic, yet possessed a kind of chaotic beauty. If this scene had been recorded by a medieval painter, it would probably have been called "The Death of Batman."

Superman decided to deal with the fighting group of Supermen first. Apparently, the other Supermen thought the same. With the combined efforts of several Supermen, the white Superman who was going berserk without restraint was finally subdued.

“He doesn’t really think that guy has done anything wrong,” one Superman said. “He just wants to vent his frustration. They’re both pretty much the same kind of dangerous people.”

Superman agreed with this assessment. He had deduced from their appearances and the avatars they used in the group chat that one was the Lord of Justice, and the other was the Injustice Superman. Their feud wasn't something that had just begun. As for their fight here, it wasn't entirely for venting; rather, it was because, compared to their own relationship, the relationship between the Batmen of their two universes was actually closer.

There's a somewhat inaccurate but apt analogy: every Batman in a universe with a powerful superhero is much like a Beagle owner suffering from the same fate. The only difference is that some Beagles focus on barking "werwer," while others are better at destroying the house.

These Batmen, within the Batman group, are more adept at communication. This is because they constantly need to check with their fellow Batmen to see if their Superman has once again gone off to cause trouble. While they may seem more outgoing, they're actually just out of options.

Superman stood in the crowd, listening to their argument for a while. It wasn't all meaningless. He could at least confirm that there were probably a dozen or so Batmen who had disappeared and were not responding. But the number of missing Batmen was likely more than that, because some Justice League units from different universes hadn't shown up.

However, despite the arguments, everyone reached a high degree of consensus on rescuing Batman—they couldn't rush in recklessly, or they would surely die.

While the Superman of the cinematic universe may still harbor some doubts, his counterparts are clearly much more certain. Perhaps this is because they all encountered a more powerful Batman at a better age. The consequence of their peak performances not being staggered is that everyone firmly believes: the trap that can hold Batman can kill them a thousand times over.

Of course, this outcome might also be attributed to the current chaotic scene. Despite the arguments and fights, it's also a manifestation of how they rely on each other. Because they can support each other and work together to find solutions, they are able to express their emotions.

One can imagine how serious they must be when they're in their own separate universes. When you're the pillar of the family, you can't afford to make even the slightest mistake. But with so many pillars gathered together, even if the sky falls, there's someone taller to hold it up.

The Superman from the main universe had to step forward—everyone could tell he wasn't entirely confident—but it was still a commendable act of bravery. He cleared his throat and said, "The Justice League from that universe didn't come. That proves they're trapped too."

Superman instinctively checked the time. Realizing it was indeed a weekday workday, he couldn't help but become more serious. Don't be fooled by the Justice League's seemingly quick departures; they don't skip work without reason and are very diligent during their shifts. If they weren't here now, it would prove that the problem wasn't just with Batman; perhaps the entire Justice League in that universe had been caught in the crossfire.

This prevented others from harboring too much resentment towards them. Being chosen as a target by the Black Death Emperor was not their fault. Their universe was the first to be affected, thus preventing other universes from suffering the consequences.

"Therefore, we have no other way to explore the situation in that universe. Unless..."

“Unless what?” someone asked.

“Survivors,” the Superman from the main universe said. “We’re looking for survivors from that universe.”

"Are there really any survivors? And who just happened to enter the Battle Realm?"

"That's precisely why we need to search. Wonder Woman, please contact everyone else in the Fighting World and see if you can find out who came from that universe."

“No problem.” Wonder Woman’s group is the most united. But precisely because of this, anxiety is spreading, and there’s no conflict to interrupt their emotional outbursts. Superman from the main universe has to find them some work to do first.

"I believe everyone agrees on one point: it's impossible to save Batman without going through the Black Death. So what appears to be a rescue operation for Batman is actually just taking over his job to continue fighting the Black Death. Did your Batman reveal his battle plan to you before he left?"

The others started discussing it amongst themselves.
