Chapter 4213 A Guide to Wandering the Galaxy (Part 20)

When Schiller arrived at the accident site, he didn't see any spaceship; to be precise, only a pile of parts remained. The only recognizable part was the tail section of the spaceship, which was charred black. Two symbiote agents stood trembling nearby.

“What’s going on?” Schiller asked.

“Actually, we don’t really know either,” one of the agents said. “We were just on routine patrol when this guy suddenly drove his spaceship at us. We dodged to the side, and then the spaceship wobbled and crashed into the asteroid. We didn’t have time to stop it…”

The scene was horrific; the spaceship was shattered, and the asteroid was destroyed. Because of the extensive debris, it took the three of them considerable effort to find the pilot and passengers.

These aliens have incredibly strong bodies; even though their spaceship and asteroid were shattered, they still managed to leave behind complete corpses. But clearly, that's all they could manage—complete corpses. These two were utterly dead.

One had his chest pierced by the control stick of the spaceship's control system, and the other had his head smashed open. As Schiller walked over, he could smell a strong odor of alcohol. "That's why they say, don't drink and drive, and don't drive after drinking. You can't even fly a spaceship after drinking."

He was actually a little guilty. When the group left, he wanted to suggest that they book a room upstairs, but he also knew that they had some negative stereotypes about humans. If he insisted that they stay, it would inevitably be seen as a forced sale, which would affect the tavern's reputation. So he just let them be.

It's unbelievable that these aliens could drive a ship like this after drinking. Keep in mind that space is incredibly vast; the chances of this small spaceship hitting any obstacle are practically zero, let alone another ship. To be so unlucky as to crash headfirst into an asteroid is truly a fateful accident.

But Schiller thought about it and felt something was off. He said, "You just said that the spaceship rushed towards you when it saw you, and you dodged it, which is why they crashed into the asteroid?"

One of the symbiote agents nodded and said, "Yes, the agents on the night patrol are all quite capable. For example, my symbiote can charge quickly, while his can become intangible, so when this spaceship came rushing at us, we both dodged it."

Schiller immediately realized that this was probably not as simple as the aliens being drunk. These aliens were already afraid of humans, and even if they were drunk, they wouldn't instinctively rush towards two humanoid beings. There was only one explanation: they were doing it on purpose.

Schiller then stepped forward to examine the two bodies. This time, he didn't just look at the surface, but used the gray fog to conduct a deeper examination. He then discovered that one of the bodies had a problem with its brain, which looked like it had suffered some kind of nanoscale damage, possibly from nanorobots or neuronal viruses.

Now things are clear: they're manipulating some alien to drive drunk and cause an accident. Whether or not the accident results in a fatality, it will definitely provoke hostility from humanity, and might even lead to the expulsion of this race and the disruption of their diplomatic relations with humans. In this way, their goal will be achieved.

However, Nick was very clever. The symbiote agents he sent here were all quite capable. Not only did they avoid being hit, but they also managed to make them collide with the asteroid by chance.

Unfortunately, they didn't realize at first that it was an elaborate trap. The nanobots that had damaged the alien's brain had likely already escaped, and the two men, perhaps fearing reprimand from their superiors, called Schiller directly.

There's no point in saying more now. Schiller simply waved his hand and said, "Take the bodies onto the spaceship and send them to the tavern's backyard. Leave the rest to me."

The two agents breathed a sigh of relief and quickly dragged the body onto the spaceship. Schiller watched them walk away.

Generally speaking, nanorobots need to parasitize living organisms in order to obtain energy. They cannot stay on corpses for long, so the moment the host dies, they will initiate an detachment procedure and find a new host for themselves. The two agents present were the best choice.

But symbiotes are incredibly mysterious entities; they are aggregates of factors, and no weapon at the microscopic level can be more microscopic than them. For nanobots to parasitize them is like walking into a trap. However, since the symbiotes didn't raise an alarm, it means the nanobots didn't choose them as hosts. This suggests that the seemingly dead corpses might still have a glimmer of hope.

After cleaning up the scene, Schiller did not report the incident, but instead returned to the tavern as if nothing had happened.

The two corpses left in the backyard appeared perfectly normal. Schiller manipulated the gray mist to observe them again and discovered that the two were indeed dead, their souls extinguished. However, their bodies were still circulating in a peculiar way, likely thanks to the nanobots.

However, no matter how many times it was recycled, it was useless, because it could only slow down the rate of decay of the flesh. Schiller had no intention of letting the two corpses come into contact with anyone else, so he simply threw the corpses to Pamela.

Logically, Pamela would be the best host, but although the Green of All Things is not very effective in this universe, and Pamela is not a poison, her body is still not suitable for ordinary people. Her blood still contains a certain amount of plant toxins, and her body's energy circulation is different from that of ordinary people, so nanobots cannot stay for long.

Seeing that Schiller had brought back two more corpses so quickly, Pamela's expression spoke volumes. Schiller was truly at a loss for words; no one would believe he hadn't deliberately gone to find fertilizer.

However, Schiller didn't just abandon the body to Pamela; he still helped her dismantle it and reburied it. The soil in Gotham might be a bit unusual, though; the body buried a day earlier was decomposing much faster than normal. In the low temperature, it had already decomposed significantly in less than a day.

Pamela's seeds haven't shown any reaction yet, but according to her, they should sprout in the next couple of days. Once they sprout, the survival rate will be clear. If they're even better than usual, it's hard to say whether it's thanks to the fertilizer.

Schiller returned to the tavern upstairs again. This time, while serving customers, he vaguely heard about the disappearance. Logically speaking, they had cleaned up the traces very well, and the time was too short. Many people, seeing their colleagues missing, might have just assumed they had taken leave or had other tasks, and wouldn't have connected it to a disappearance so quickly. Someone must have been spreading rumors behind the scenes.

The purpose of doing this is easy to guess: to create panic and spread the idea that humans eat children, so that no one will dare to come and build in the Milky Way.

Schiller thought for a moment, then called Loki. Loki was also shocked when he heard about it.

"I thought you would use a gentler approach."

"I didn't do this. If it were me, I would have found a more reasonable way for them to die. Both of these things can be considered accidents. The key is how to handle them."

"What do you want?"

“A cold approach is definitely not an option. The mastermind behind this will stir up public opinion. Even if we block the posts, we can’t stop the workers from video chatting with their families. The news will still get out.”

"Then you mean..."

"Now we can only turn the tables on them."

That noon, Nick gathered all the workers together for a meeting and gave them a stern lecture. Everyone was completely baffled.

After making inquiries for a while, they learned that in just a few days, many people had been absent from work without reason, and their whereabouts were unknown, causing humanity to search for the missing persons throughout the universe. Humanity didn't have many spaceships to begin with, and now all of them had been sent out, but even after so much time, they still hadn't found them.

Not long after the meeting ended, they received another shocking piece of news—someone had been arrested!

One of their colleagues was caught by a patrol team near Asgard. No one knew how he had gotten so far, but he had somehow made it all the way to the gates of Asgard, seemingly trying to sneak in, only to be stopped by the gods.

When this news came out, everyone had their own thoughts. They were all smart people, so how could they not know what was going on?

They knew when they arrived that not everyone was there to work; some had come with a mission. Well, they've been caught now.

But the war soon reached them. After that guy's espionage was confirmed, the entire planet was now under lockdown, and no one was allowed to leave. After get off work hours, they could only stay in their dormitories, and they weren't even allowed to go to pubs.

For carbon-based organisms, things always become second nature. Although the pressure on construction sites is not high, it is quite boring. It is not easy to find a place to relax, with a reasonable price and a warm atmosphere. Many people rely on this time after get off work to relax. If you suddenly stop letting them go, of course there will be complaints.

Nick could only say that he had no choice: "You have spies in your team. If we don't blockade the planet, are we just going to let them wander around the galaxy?"

These people naturally understood that if it weren't for those guys with missions interfering, they wouldn't be locked up here. Humans and Asgard were already much stronger, so they didn't dare to complain openly and could only vent their anger on those spies.

The result was that people started reporting each other, and everyone saw each other as robots. Although it was a bit like being paranoid, someone reporting someone gave them a reason to investigate, and if they could investigate openly, they could naturally dig out all those who were previously suspected.

After the excavation was completed, everyone was shocked to find that only a minority of the people were not spies. Moreover, the highly deceptive mechanical clones and the brainwashed and controlled individuals whose brainwaves had been interfered with by something made everyone feel disgusted and afraid. The thought of working with such fake people every day made their hair stand on end.

So they stopped complaining about humans locking them up, and were even a little grateful that humans were so responsible and actually investigated; otherwise, they wouldn't even know if these fake humans killed them one day.

The lockdown didn't last very long, only a few days. When it was lifted, those with relatively poor disguise skills or those who tried to pull off sneaky maneuvers had already been arrested. Although there weren't many people left, the security was greatly improved.

However, discovering so many imposters at once gave Loki a major headache. Everyone said they wanted to open the Nine Realms, but with this level of infiltration, if they really let more people in, wouldn't the Nine Realms become a playground for imposters?

The next morning, Schiller arrived. Loki quickly welcomed him in and asked, "How did it go?"
