Chapter 4095 MU: The Superbody Incident (172)
Two screams came from the dimensional entrance. The two figures appeared at an astonishing speed—like someone spitting on the ground, or like two watermelon seeds dropping during a bout of diarrhea.
The two figures struggled to stop for a while before finally coming to a halt. Once they stopped, Loki noticed: Stark's Jaeger had a large gash running halfway through its front, and Strange had a knife stuck in his back.
“Am I hallucinating?” Strange asked, grinning. “You saw it too, didn’t you?”
"I'm probably just too tired from doing experiments lately. I don't know what I just saw," Stark said, equally bewildered. Then he looked down at the crack in his chest and let out another strange cry.
The two stared at each other.
Then Loki flew over. The two looked at him simultaneously and said, "Are we dreaming? This dimension is full of Schiller! And he can teleport!"
“If the two of you didn’t see it, it might just be a hallucination; but since the three of us saw it, Schiller probably really did come out.”
“It’s pathological.” Strange, who clearly saw it more clearly, said, “These people aren’t from inside the tower, they’re from the bottom. Every single one of them is evil and terrifying. How did they get out?”
Stark had already called Greed. They heard Greed swearing on the other end, "The Morbid is perfectly fine at the bottom of the abyss, that's why he hasn't escaped. You guys must be too tired lately, that's why you're hallucinating..."
Before he could finish speaking, a cloud of gray mist appeared beside them. Stark pointed to the dimensional entrance and said, "Go see for yourself."
Greed looked at him with a mixture of disbelief and suspicion, and slowly flew inside. A few seconds later, another scream was heard, and the gray mist was sprayed out with a "whoosh".
"Good heavens! What's going on?!"
"You really don't know?"
"Why would I lie to you?!" Greed stared at him with wide eyes. "When have I ever not told you the truth when you asked me? Most of the time it's just that you didn't ask. This time it really wasn't me."
Seeing their obvious disbelief, he greedily explained, "When I offered compensation before, I only released some of the fantasy traits from the normal side. That's because I knew it was just a means, not a real attempt to destroy the universe. How could I possibly release the morbid side in the real world? They would have torn my house apart!"
Stark thought about it and realized that Greed had a point. The traits he had released earlier, although each one was a bit strange and didn't seem to be from this world, were mostly not very aggressive and not too difficult to deal with.
But those in this dimension are different. They're completely ruthless, attacking anyone they see, turning anyone who slows down into sashimi. If these people were to enter reality, the damage they would cause would be incalculable, and they could very well endanger Earth. Greed won't allow them to destroy its property.
"Besides, I've already said we're one person, just with different traits; do you think I don't know whether other traits are present in me or not?" Greed said with a hint of helplessness. "The morbid is comfortably staying in the abyss. Who knows where those things in there came from? Where does this dimension lead?"
“This is a closed dimension,” Loki said. “It’s where the Lord of Chaos and the Lord of Order reside, and where the middleman is. Batman’s information is that the Infinity Stones might be in this dimension.”
"It's good that it's sealed off," Greed said with a sigh of relief. "Make sure they don't come out, or all the superheroes will be doomed."
“The problem is the gem is inside,” Strange said, pointing to the dimensional portal. “If Batman gets the last gem, we lose. What if they succeed if we don’t go in?”
“Then you still lack understanding of pathology,” Greed said. “I can tell you with absolute certainty that with them around, no one will get anything. Our task now is to block this entrance and prevent anything from getting out, otherwise the real world will definitely suffer.”
“We need to find out where those monsters with the exact same personality traits as you came from. It can't be that someone invaded your tower…”
“That’s impossible.” Greed shook his head and said, “Putting aside who has the ability to infiltrate the tower, even if they did get into the tower, they would have entered the abyss. They certainly couldn’t have come out alive. How could they mimic these… Wait, dream.”
"what?"
"Where is Doctor Strange, the master of dreams?"
Strange didn't know why he suddenly asked that question, but he still tried to contact Doctor Strange, the Dream Force. There was no response at all.
"Could it be that he betrayed us?" Stark said, frowning. "He stole information from your tower..."
“That’s impossible,” Greed repeated. “No one can understand my pathology like that except myself. If Doctor Strange’s Dream Force has betrayed me, then I would never cooperate with him or reveal information to him.”
"Then why do you think it was him?"
"This form is somewhat like a manifestation of a dream. You can use professional equipment to test whether the power within it is similar to the dream power used by Doctor Strange. If so, it can at least be confirmed that these things were manifested by dream power."
Stark approached the dimensional portal to investigate, while Greed continued, "Either Doctor Strange is being controlled by the Dream Force, or he's lost control. Considering the Scarlet Witch and Magneto who lost control before, Batman might also be behind this."
"I remember you were helping Batman, right?"
"Yes, it exists, but he couldn't have created it. He doesn't even connect with the normal personality traits, let alone the pathological ones. To him, the pathological ones are just a bunch of lunatics, and he wouldn't use this method. Besides, they're in a hurry to find the Infinity Stones right now. Since they already know the Infinity Stones are in this dimension, why would they create obstacles for themselves?"
Strange thought for a moment, then nodded and said, "The key question now is, who knows you so well? Could it be Batman from the main universe?"
“He knows arrogance better than anything else,” Greed said as he pondered.
“It is indeed the power of dreams,” Stark said as he flew back. “It’s 99% similar to Doctor Strange’s power of dreams. Why would he do this? Was he corrupted and went out of control?”
Greed shook his head and said, "Judging from the Scarlet Witch and Magneto's loss of control, people who are mentally corrupted and lose control can only use their instincts. You can't expect him to create such a detailed phantom in a state of loss of control. That phantom is almost exactly the same as my morbid state, and even the abilities are almost the same."
Stark looked down at the scar on his chest, opened his mouth, but said nothing.
"Who else can use the power of dreams?" Greed asked Strange.
“…Nightmare.” Strange gave a name, saying, “Actually, before Doctor Strange arrived with his dream powers, the dream dimension was the realm of Nightmares. This guy has always wanted the dream dimension to descend into reality; is it possible that he's the one pulling the strings behind the scenes?”
Greed recalled that in the comic book setting, Nightmare was also a member of the Dimensional Lords. However, compared to villains like Mephisto who frequently appeared on screen, he seemed rather ordinary. His abilities were not as strong as those of the Dream God, the master of the Dream Kingdom next door. He was considered a mid-level demon god who had never caused any trouble and was almost forgotten by everyone.
"Nightmare can't beat Doctor Strange with the power of dreams, right?" Greed asked.
“Of course, otherwise, how could outsiders have taken control of most of the dream dimension?” Strange thought for a moment and said, “Don’t even mention Doctor Strange with his dream powers, he can’t even beat me.”
"How could he possibly have created these things with Doctor Strange's dream powers?" Greed asked.
“He might not be able to manage alone, but what if he has help?” Stark said. “But how did he find out about your condition?”
No one had an answer to this question. But just then, another figure emerged from the darkness. He looked exactly like Ghost Rider Johnny, but judging from his demeanor, he was undoubtedly Mephisto himself.
"Well? I told you I could solve this problem for you." Mephisto looked at Loki and said, "Now Batman can forget about getting the Infinity Stones. How do you plan to thank me? How about you renew my premium membership for another 20,000 years?"
“You did this?!” Strange looked at him in shock.
"That's right. Nightmare is incredibly stupid. I just casually fooled him, and he did me a huge favor."
“Tell me how you did it,” Greed said.
"Isn't that simple? Your Charles guy has trapped a bunch of big guys in the mental world, and Batman's henchmen want to rescue them. The two sides are bound to have a battle in the dream dimension. During the big battle, they can use the burst of power to open up the passage between dimensions, allowing the power of dreams to be output into other dimensions, and also allowing the dream kingdom to descend there. Nightmare has always wanted the dream dimension to descend into reality. I told him about this, and he readily agreed."
"However, Doctor Strange, who can use the power of dreams, is an obstacle to achieving this. Fortunately, I gave Nightmare a suggestion, and he tricked Doctor Strange of his dream powers. The two of us set a trap and trapped him."
"So you helped Nightmare kidnap Doctor Strange, the Dream Force?"
"Of course, otherwise he alone wouldn't be able to beat that guy at all. I have to take action. But I didn't show myself to prevent him from holding a grudge against me, since we're practically teammates."
"and then?"
"When a dream dimension connects to another dimension, it not only needs to blast a hole in the other dimension's barrier, but also simultaneously blast one on its own side. Therefore, it's best to choose a chaotic and unstable dream, as this will make the dimensional barrier thinner and easier to open. However, I'm not the master of the dream dimension, so I don't know much about this. Anyway, Nightmare said he found a particularly chaotic dream, which was just right for opening the passage. He should have succeeded by now, right?"
"Of course." Greed gave a forced smile, then pointed to the dimensional portal. "It's time to admire the spoils of your labor."
Mephisto, of course, came to see what was happening, so he flew in through the dimensional portal. A short while later, another scream was heard, and yet another watermelon seed was ejected, accompanied by another look of utter disbelief.
"What's going on?!" Mephisto exclaimed in shock, staring at the dimensional portal. "Why are there so many Schillers???"
After saying that, he looked at Greed again, clearly believing that Greed was the culprit. Greed shrugged and said, "Don't look at me, I'm a victim too. If I hadn't dodged quickly, I almost had a rib torn off."
"Almost? I lost two ribs the moment I went in!" Mephisto cursed. "Times are really changing. This is the first time I've ever seen anyone dare to rip out the heart of a devil!"
“So what exactly happened?” Stark asked, looking at him.
Mephisto thought for a moment, then looked at Greed and said, "Could it be that the extremely unstable dream that Nightmare chose just happens to be your dream?"
Greed paused for a moment, then said, "But why would I dream about something morbid? You don't dream about yourselves when you dream, do you? I... Oh, I know, it's the agent."
"Agent? You mean Schiller, the one who's with Batman?"
"Probably. He doesn't fit in with the traits of psychoanalysts, so if it's his nightmare, it makes sense."
