Chapter 4041 MU Superbody Major Event (121)

Chapter 4041 MU: The Superbody Incident (121)

Describing Star-Lord's current state as "a petty person who has achieved success" might be a bit of an exaggeration, but it's certainly true. From the beginning, Peter Quill wasn't a combat-oriented hero; almost everyone else on the team was better than him. While not consistently last, he was usually near the bottom. If you had to rank him second to last, it was only because he was bigger than Rocket Raccoon. If Rocket Raccoon were even that tall, he would be a guaranteed bottom-of-the-barrel.

Star-Lord's lack of military strength actually caused him a lot of trouble. Most of the time, he could only rely on witty banter to deal with his enemies, and he had virtually no chance of engaging in direct combat. Let alone the Elders of the Universe, he might not even be able to defeat the common soldiers of the two most common mechanical empires in the universe. Countless battles he had fought in interstellar space had only honed his skills in escaping.

Star-Lord never imagined he could be this powerful—that was the Grandmaster, an Elder of the Universe! And the Grandmaster wasn't weak even among the Elders of the Universe, yet he was sent flying by a single blow!

He immediately realized that this might be one of the most glorious moments of his life. If not now, when?

Of course, a normal person would think about why they should fight and what the consequences would be, but the Guardians of the Galaxy aren't normal, especially Star-Lord. So he quickly threw these common-sense questions to the back of his mind and charged forward yelling.

The other members of the Guardians of the Galaxy didn't know why he started fighting, but since a fight had already broken out, they couldn't just stand by and watch. They immediately grabbed their weapons and joined the fight with the bodyguards.

The Grandmaster was quite shaken by his sneak attack, and he coughed twice against the wall, unable to get up for a moment. But Constantine was no pushover either. He took a deep breath, took out a tattered roll of cloth from the box, wrapped it around his hand, and stood in front of the Grandmaster, then punched Star-Lord in the cheekbone.

Star-Lord seemed completely unprepared for this attack. He should have dodged, but relying on his shield, he met the attack head-on without flinching, only to be knocked down by Constantine's punch.

The moment Rocket Raccoon fired, Constantine's eyes flashed with a blood-red light, his hair flew wildly, and a shield formed from crimson liquid blocked the bullet and deflected it, sending it hurtling towards the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Swoosh swoosh swoosh swoosh swoosh—

The Guardians of the Galaxy quickly sought cover from the bullets. In the meantime, Constantine glanced back at the Grandmaster and, seeing that he was indeed badly injured, went up to him and whispered, "You go upstairs and hide. I'll take care of things here."

The Grandmaster took a deep breath, knowing this wasn't the time to show off. He waved his hand and shouted, "Capture these bastards from the Guardians of the Galaxy, and I'll reward you handsomely!!!"

The gamblers, who had been sprawled on the ground, immediately sprang to their feet, their eyes fixed intently on the Guardians of the Galaxy, as if they were eyeing a piece of meat. Taking advantage of the chaos, the Grandmaster scurried from the corner to the elevator, clutching his chest and panting for a while before taking the elevator upstairs.

The gamblers immediately surrounded the Guardians of the Galaxy. Star-Lord waved his hand again, but there was no response. He kept changing his posture, seemingly trying to regain his previous strength, but no matter how he struck those poses, he couldn't unleash the same power as before.

Star-Lord gasped. Just then, Rocket Raccoon threw a smoke bomb, and the group spotted a gap in the gamblers' encirclement and dashed out.

But these gamblers, blinded by greed, were not about to give up the bounty they had already won. They chased after them, howling and screaming. The Guardians of the Galaxy ran for their lives, weaving and twisting until they finally shook them off. They found a small hut and crawled inside, leaning against the wall, panting heavily.

"What are you doing?" Gamora couldn't help but yell. "Why did you hit the Grandmaster? Didn't we agree to make a bet with him?"

“Didn’t you see the guy next to him?!” Star-Lord retorted confidently. “That Constantine and he’s known each other for a long time. That guy’s after the gems too. If they hadn’t reached an agreement, why would they be together? If they’ve chosen to cooperate, they’ll definitely team up to swindle us!”

Gamora then remembered that the person who had stopped them looked familiar; he seemed to be the very same culprit who had gotten them arrested. Thinking about it that way, Star-Lord's choice might have been right. After all, even if they had made the bet with the Grandmaster, if they had delayed even a little, Constantine could have used the opportunity to tip off Batman, and they might still have been caught.

Star-Lord sighed and said, "Forget it, it seems we're out of luck with the gems the Grandmaster has. We need to look for something else. Let's head back to Centaurus first."

After shooing away the Guardians of the Galaxy, Constantine rushed back upstairs, only to find the Grandmaster coughing violently at his desk. He braced himself on the table, gritting his teeth and cursing, "You little devil, Star-Lord, you tricked me!"

The reason it's described as being tricked is because the Grandmaster knew Star-Lord's level all too well. Not to mention him, even his father Yondu, the habitually aggressive space pirate captain, was just a pushover in the universe; against truly powerful beings, he was nothing.

While the Grandmaster wasn't among the strongest, he was still an immortal being who had lived for so long, and defeating the two of them was a piece of cake for him. Therefore, when facing Star-Lord, the Grandmaster was completely unprepared. He never imagined that this guy would dare to attack him, let alone actually injure him.

The Celestial Master pressed his chest, which was throbbing with pain, and grimaced as he said, "He himself doesn't have that ability. Who is it?!"

Constantine astutely caught the fleeting, complex emotion on Schiller's face. It seemed the culprit was right before their eyes.

Constantine stepped forward again, took out the Eye of Agamotto, and said, "If you don't mind, I can help you heal your wounds. Although it may not be a complete cure, it will make you feel better."

The Grandmaster looked up and saw what was in his hand, then said with some surprise, "The Time Stone? How did you get this?!"

"What?" Constantine was also somewhat surprised, looking down at the Eye of Agamotto in his hand and saying, "This is the Time Stone?"

“Yes, shouldn’t this be in the hands of the Sorcerer Supreme?” The Grandmaster frowned in confusion. “Where did you get it from?”

Constantine, of course, couldn't admit he'd stolen it, so he remained silent. The Grandmaster didn't press further, only asking, "You're going to use this to heal me? You can use the Infinity Stones?"

Constantine remained silent, simply approaching the Grandmaster with the Time Stone in his hand. A burst of white light then emanated from it, and the Grandmaster immediately felt much better.

“Oh my god, this isn’t the power of the Time Stone. This must be a healing spell left inside by the Sorcerer Supreme.” The Grandmaster took a deep breath, sat down in his chair for a while to catch his breath, and then said, “You were able to get your hands on the one in the Sorcerer Supreme’s possession. It seems you are determined to get your hands on the Infinity Stones.”

"Grandmaster, to be honest, we are indeed after the gem. As you can see, if you don't hand over the gem, you will face endless harassment. Both sides will keep sending people to test you, which I don't think will benefit you."

"Taking what's in my hands won't be so easy," the Grandmaster said through gritted teeth. "If anyone dares to forcibly take it, don't blame me for being impolite!"

"Right now they've sent someone like Star-Lord, but who knows when they'll send Magneto or Scarlet Witch?"

The Grandmaster's lips trembled slightly, but there was still some hesitation in his voice: "Probably not? Those mutants don't have that much free time."

Schiller shook his head and said, "As far as I know, they suffered extremely heavy losses in a recent battle, and such sunk costs give them a reason to win the war. They are capable of anything to achieve victory."

The Celestial Master tightened his grip on the armrest, pressed his fingers tightly to his lips, and after a long while said, "Fine, but since they dared to send someone to ambush me, I will not hand over the gem to them no matter what. Since you're here, I'll give it to you."

After speaking, the Grandmaster clapped his hands, and a box immediately flew down from the ceiling. He placed it on the table and opened it, revealing a gem inside.

"This is the Infinity Stone. Don't be fooled by its lack of energy fluctuations. If you have any understanding of magic or the origin of the universe, you will understand its power the moment you come into contact with it."

Constantine glanced at Schiller, who nodded back. Constantine reached for the Infinity Stone, and in that instant, he sensed something.

"I don't know why the Infinity Stones suddenly stopped working, but as long as they remain part of the universe's rules, they are an incredible treasure. You'd better use them with caution."

Schiller nodded and said, "Rest assured, we will remember your help. Moreover, this is only a temporary loan; once the war is over, we will definitely return it to its rightful owner."

The Grandmaster seemed too exhausted to engage in pleasantries with him, and waved for the two to leave. Constantine and Schiller emerged carrying the box.

"What exactly happened?" Constantine asked Schiller, frowning. "How did the Time Stone end up in my hands?"

"That's a question for you to ask yourself. If it wasn't given to you voluntarily by the Sorcerer Supreme of this universe, then what could it be?"

Constantine's brow furrowed even more. He realized that what he was experiencing was not a coincidence, but something deliberately orchestrated.

Although he was an outsider, he knew of the Sorcerer Supreme's power. He originally thought that what he had taken from Strange was just a small healing gadget, but he didn't expect that this thing seemed to have a great background, and was even the Time Stone from the Infinity Stones.

If this treasure is so important, why would the Sorcerer Supreme take it out in front of people whose allegiance is unclear, and then have it stolen without any warning?

If the Sorcerer Supreme were so easy to deal with, his illustrious name wouldn't resound throughout the universe, and all the demons he killed would cry out in injustice.

Even if Constantine managed to ambush Strange and steal the item, given its immense value, he would inevitably face relentless pursuit. Constantine had vaguely heard of the Sanctum Sanctorum, and their arrest warrants were far more effective than those of the Interstellar Security Council. A single warrant could send Constantine on a hunt to the ends of the earth.

So far, everything is normal. No one is hunting them down, and obtaining the Space Stone has been surprisingly smooth, almost as if divinely aided.

You have to understand, Doctor Strange caused such a huge commotion and only managed to steal one Infinity Stone. They got two so easily, so Constantine doesn't think he's just lucky.

He couldn't help but look into the shadows in the corner of the corridor, where the devil, who had the exact same face as Agent Rodriguez next to him, was smiling at him.
