Chapter 4032 MU Superbody Major Event (112)
Chapter 4032 MU: The Superbody Incident (112)
Darkseid took a deep breath. He knew now wasn't the right time to openly confront Batman. So he said, "Believe it or not, this has nothing to do with me. Think about it, Batman. Instead of keeping Green Lanterns outside the shield and preventing them from getting in, wouldn't it be better for me to just attack you all inside? Within Apocalypse Realm, no one can stop me. I can severely injure all of you in an instant. Why bother Green Lanterns first and alert the enemy?"
"As for the escaped Guardians of the Galaxy, I admit, I never considered those rats to be important. Would you care about an ant sneaking away from your feet? Besides, you locked them up in prison without even informing the other side that they had been captured, which just shows you didn't think they were important enough. It's good that they escaped; maybe they can cause some trouble for the other side."
"I know you've never trusted me, and I happen to trust you too. But, judging from the current situation, the scales of victory aren't tipping in our favor. If we were to turn against each other now, who would benefit the most?"
"To be honest, some people have already approached me, but their offers were far from sufficient. Batman, I must warn you, it's not easy for people in this world to come up with a bargaining chip that surpasses the combined wisdom of all Batmen, which is why they're trying to sow discord. Don't fall for their tricks."
The expression on the main universe's Batman's face remained unchanged. He looked at Darkseid and said, "Don't try to twist my words, Darkseid. The offer that can entice you doesn't need to surpass the combined wisdom of all of us; it just needs to allow you to break free from us and venture into the multiverse on your own. What price did he offer you? A ticket to the Battlegrounds? Or the ability to travel to other multiverses?"
Darkseid cursed inwardly. He was absolutely certain that no one else knew Mephisto's comings and goings within Apocalypse Realm, yet Batman had guessed the general idea from just a few words. It seemed that the deal with Mephisto needed careful consideration; otherwise, Batman would definitely interfere, and he might end up pleasing neither side.
"Fine, Batman, you just want to use this to get me to use more of my power, right? Don't think I don't know. You've only been here a short time, but you've already deployed many pawns. Right now, you're only at a temporary disadvantage. You'll turn the tables sooner or later, so why be so aggressive?"
“When I invited you here, you should have known what my purpose was. If you don’t act now, you’ll have to act someday.” The main universe Batman waved his cape and left.
Darkseid stared at his retreating figure, his expression grim. He knew perfectly well what Batman meant. When the two of them made their deal, he knew that Batman not only wanted to use his power to fight against the people of the other world, but also wanted to use the superheroes of that world to test his trump cards.
Darkseid has only sent Parademons so far, but there are countless of those; the deaths of many won't cripple him. Meanwhile, his elite Dark Order, comprised of Dessaard, the benevolent old woman, and others, hasn't even made a move. How could Batman be content with this?
The main universe's Batman was genuinely suspicious, but he also genuinely wanted to use this opportunity to pressure Darkseid into revealing more of his true abilities. Darkseid pondered this in his mind, but ultimately just let out a cold snort.
"Disad"
"Your subordinate is here." The figure of Desad, dressed in a red robe, appeared behind Darkseid.
"Go and move the Nemesis Team to the front lines. Tell Grandma Kind, ignore the robots, kill all members of the Avengers without mercy!"
"Yes."
At the Asgardian base front, the long-standing stalemate finally improved with the fading of Green Lantern's power. Without Green Lantern's suppression, the Avengers were even able to push back. Seeing a glimmer of hope, the Marvel team went all out, desperately trying to repel the invaders.
On the eastern side of the defensive line, in the darkness devoid of the lights of the mechanical defenses, a ghostly spaceship slowly approached. Several figures jumped out of the ship and stealthily crept along the defensive line.
In the main universe, Captain America is still wielding his shield to fight the Parademons. He lacks lethal methods against these modified monsters, so he can only use his shield to constantly repel them and leave the task to his teammates behind him.
The Winter Soldier is Captain America's best partner. Monsters knocked back by the shield are instantly shattered by the Winter Soldier's arm. Just like Captain America, Howard replaced the arms of most Winter Soldier units, giving his prosthetic arm greater kinetic energy and making it more lethal.
In the main universe, Captain America first used his shield to block the spitting slime, then slapped away the long-necked bird with two pairs of wings. Bucky, from the other direction, pounced, his mechanical arm grabbing the bird's neck and yanking it, his fingers tightening to crush its skull.
"Well done!" Captain America from the main universe praised, though he didn't know which universe's Bucky it was, but he had timed it perfectly.
Just as Captain America from the main universe was looking in that direction, the Winter Soldier suddenly froze. Then, a look of pain appeared on his face, and a violent flame suddenly erupted from his body. Before he could even scream, he turned into a white light and disappeared from the battlefield.
This was also the first casualty in this battle. Captain America from the main universe was stunned, because he hadn't even seen how Bucky died. His keen combat instincts prevented him from charging forward; instead, he activated the shield's propulsion system and retreated.
Everything happened so fast that no one noticed. Even when they saw the white light rising, they assumed it was just some unlucky person who hadn't been able to defend against the Parademons' attack.
Don't let their appearance as cannon fodder fool you; these monsters are actually incredibly lethal. While the Winter Soldier was the first to fall, many others were injured, including several of the powerful and magically skilled Doctor Doom who were forced to retreat due to injuries. Ultimately, it comes down to a significant difference in physical strength.
"Be careful," Captain America from the main universe said, "These monsters seem to have a new way of attacking! Be on guard!"
That was all he could offer as a warning, because he hadn't seen clearly what was happening. The flames could be from a bomb, fire, or some kind of magic; there was simply no way to defend against them.
No sooner had he finished speaking than a Captain America nearby froze, and then, like the Winter Soldier before him, he was reduced to ashes with a whoosh.
"Defense!! Focus on defense!!!" Captain America roared at the top of his lungs. The others also sensed something was wrong and dared not advance any further, instead retreating into a defensive stance.
Doctor Doom of the central universe narrowed his eyes. He sensed something was wrong and said into the communication channel, "Activate the energy monitoring system! Monitor the readings!"
Doctor Doom and his crew activated their monitoring systems, and the Iron Man crew, who had just joined the battle, also started scanning their armors, but they did not detect any violent energy fluctuations.
In those few short seconds, another Captain America met his tragic end. Then came Nightthrush from the New Warriors team, who was burned to ashes right before Robert's eyes. Robert screamed in terror.
"Someone's there!" the squirrel girl suddenly shouted. "I saw someone, a woman in a green robe. She's holding a burning dagger!!!"
"Where? Where?"
"I didn't see it!"
"My scanner shows no abnormalities!"
"No way...uh!!!"
Just as they were searching for the anomaly, several bright flashes of light suddenly appeared, and Iron Man's scream came through the communication channel. A white light then shone from the east.
"Damn it, where are the enemies?!"
"It's a woman, definitely a woman!" someone suddenly shouted. "She has green hair, and her hands look like Wolverine's!"
"what!!!"
Then came another scream, and someone in the channel shouted, "This time it's someone in white! Holding a knife!"
Within minutes, they had already lost five or six men. This made most people realize that the people on the other side might not be superheroes, but professional assassins.
Although many heroes don't have a no-kill policy, they are not bloodthirsty people. They mainly focus on suppressing the opponent in fights, rather than being as efficient as professional killers. Therefore, they rarely suffer casualties in the long fights.
But it's a different story for professional assassins. Assassins are all about simplicity and efficiency, with no fancy fighting moves; their goal is swift and deadly. Their training is all geared towards this goal, and over the years, it has become instinctive, making them naturally decisive and efficient in action.
"Assemble!!" Captain America shouted from the main universe. "Don't get separated! Don't give them a chance to attack!!"
Everyone moved towards their companions as quickly as possible, then retreated towards Captain America. This tactic was effective; no further casualties occurred before everyone successfully regrouped.
However, this was, after all, combat in space. The defenses were three-dimensional, and the enemy was attacking from all directions. If they were clustered into a sphere, there would be no defense whatsoever. They had only withdrawn from their positions for a short while when the Parademons broke through the mechanical defenses and pressed forward.
If this continues, the enemy will land in less than half an hour. The base's defenses are already weak; if the Parademon army lands, we'll be completely finished.
Stark's mind raced. He shouted into the comms, "The one using fire shouldn't be able to break through the mechanical defenses, so it didn't attack Iron Man and Doctor Doom. The ones with claws can break through the armor's defenses, so they'll attack the people wearing the armor. But none of them should be able to harm the Asgardians, so there have been no casualties among the Asgardians."
Then everyone remembered that Asgard had left a royal guard here, but they were stationed on the western front and not with the superheroes.
"Your Majesty, are you there?" Steve had already started communicating with the other side. He said, "We've encountered a mysterious assassin on the battlefield. Can you send someone to help us?"
“Valkyrie will be here soon,” Sif replied.
Soon, Valkyrie arrived at the superheroes' location with a squad of about ten Asgardians. She scanned the area but didn't see any assassins.
“Their stealth skills are impressive,” Captain America from the main universe said. “I just witnessed the assassination up close, but I didn’t see anything amiss. We have to find a way to force them out.”
“Spread out,” Stark said. “I can use my magic core to unleash a burst of magic; the energy turbulence should disrupt their cloaking field. However, it might temporarily disable your shields and life-sustaining fields.”
“No problem, there are no completely ordinary people here, we can all hold out for a while,” Captain America from the main universe said.
The crowd stepped back slightly, making room for Stark. Stark took out a core that shimmered with magical light, pulled out his original one, and then forcefully inserted the magical core into his chest.
hum-
First came a soft tremor, then a roar began. Light enveloped Stark's entire body, then rippled outwards.
Sizzle—sizzle—sizzle—
All electrical signals present were interfered with, including Charles's brainwaves. Communication equipment began emitting sharp, piercing noises, and all force fields instantly failed.
In an instant, several unfamiliar figures appeared on the battlefield.
