Chapter 3928 MU: The Superbody Incident (Part 8)
Massachusetts. Ilvermorny School of Magic.
After Batmen left, the school enjoyed a rare period of peace and quiet. However, the students who joined later still caused quite a bit of trouble due to their lack of understanding of magic. This meant Strange couldn't leave the school; he had to act as a troubleshooter, always on standby.
Strange's leisure life was rather unremarkable. As a doctor, he neither dined out nor socialized. When he was on the operating table, he performed surgery; when he was off, he went home and stayed there. After returning home, he didn't engage in any recreational activities. He would jog on the treadmill for an hour, and if he had time, he would watch TV for a while before going to bed.
After becoming the Sorcerer Supreme, aside from managing Kamar-Taj and occasionally inspecting the Sanctum Sanctum, he mostly stayed in his office reading those massive tomes and occasionally engaged in wand and potion research.
That day, he was standing next to the large cauldron in the principal's office, testing the medicinal properties of the fourth batch of magic mushrooms, when he heard a knock on the office door. Without looking up, he answered, but when he did, he saw Jarvis.
"How did you come?"
“I feel there’s something I need to tell you,” Jarvis said. “There was some alien electronic life form that, for some reason, insisted on challenging me to a duel, and I chased it away.”
Strange paused for a moment, then nodded and said, "That's good. But what does that have to do with me?"
"Actually, it's nothing. I just came to remind you that this electronic life form may have wandered into the next world and even invaded the multiverse next door."
"What?!" Strange raised his voice, throwing down the ladle he was using to stir the pot, and said, "This is nothing?! When did this happen?!"
"It was a few months ago, I don't remember exactly. I'm pretty sure it wasn't a product of our universe, but was probably brought here by people from other universes who came on business. It was very weak at that time, but after fighting me, it evolved a bit."
"Hiss..." Strange gasped, "Why are you only bringing this up now?"
“Because I just found out it invaded the multiverse next door,” Jarvis said, shaking his head helplessly. “Do you remember before our reboot, the abandoned main universe merged with a universe next door? That Earth had heroes from both worlds?”
Strange tried hard to think, but he really couldn't remember. However, Jarvis's mention of it made him aware that such a universe existed.
"The people there found this guy, and Magneto caught him. Scarlet Witch found out about it too, so she told them in their group chat. Wanda saw the message and came to me, and that's how I found out what this guy was doing next door."
Strange started pacing around the room. He said, "So, if that's what you're saying, it's causing quite a stir in the next world?"
"More than that, it launched a multi-dimensional invasion, causing Batman a huge headache. If Magneto hadn't happened to intercept a segment of radio waves in that particular universe, they wouldn't have known what was going on."
"It's so strong, and you defeated it so easily?"
“I told you, it was still very weak when it came to me. The speed at which electronic life forms iterate and update is far beyond your imagination. At least when it came to me, it couldn’t move in the radio waves. It was just a very simple cyber creature. Of course I could defeat it.”
Strange frowned and sat down by the window, then said, "Batman can't do anything about it? Oh, right, they should be helpless. They don't have a magical defense network to intercept these energy creatures, and there are thousands or tens of thousands of backups of this thing. Kill one and there's a whole bunch more."
He thought for a moment and continued, "If they had already built a magical defense network, that would be a ready-made advertisement, but they started too late, and they probably haven't even put up the pillars yet. And that guy will definitely cause trouble for them, so completion is probably a long way off."
"Yes, the reason I came to you is to remind you that, in my calculations, Batman might come to you for help."
"Looking for my help?"
“Yes, that guy can’t handle magic, and mages are naturally its counter. Besides, if you go there, you can help build a magic defense network, so it’s the most efficient choice no matter how you look at it.”
“Should I go?” Strange stood up again, shook the sleeves of his sorcerer’s robe, and said, “If I go, Batman will owe me a favor, and they’ll have to help me if I need anything in the future.”
"That's not all. They probably don't just want you. After all, the multiverse has been invaded, and the more Sorcerer Supremes who can get there, the better. If you use this excuse to contact Sorcerer Supremes in other multiverses, perhaps..."
“Perhaps the prototype of the Human Alliance is within reach,” Strange said excitedly. “I’ll send a message to the group right now.”
“Don’t rush,” Jarvis said. “I suspect there will be some universes that don’t just need you; we’ll need to bundle some other superheroes with you. This is a big deal; we should have a meeting first.”
Strange's face immediately fell. It wasn't that he had a problem with the superheroes in this universe—because no one in this universe was vying with him for the leadership of the Human Alliance—but it was a different story in other universes. That Iron Man in his flashy silver armor shared the same ambitions, as did Doctor Doom from the main universe; these were all formidable competitors.
Strange thought for a moment and then said, "I'll go to the Avengers headquarters. Can you call a meeting for me?"
Half an hour later, everyone had gathered. They sat around the round sofa in the central sunken living room, and Peter took out a case of soda and distributed it to everyone, the hissing sound of cans being opened echoing throughout the room.
Seeing that Strange had also opened a can, Stark raised an eyebrow in surprise and said, "What's wrong with you? Aren't you the one who hates carbonated drinks the most?"
Strange took a sip, coughing from the spiciness of the bubbles, and waved his hand, saying, "Never mind me, I'm just a little nervous."
“What are you nervous about?” Stark asked again.
"It's nothing. Jarvis, tell me about the current situation."
Jarvis briefly recounted the whole story. Strange cleared his throat and said, "So Batman might come to me and ask me to help him fight against cyber life in that universe, and in return, I'll offer him the position of leader of the League of Humans for me. What do you think?"
The others exchanged glances and said, "We don't have any objections, but why did you have to tell us about this?"
Everyone looked at Strange. Strange sighed and said, "Because he might ask me to bring you along, and this is a big deal for our universe, how could we not inform the Avengers?"
“Ha,” Stark scoffed, took a sip of his soda, and said, “I bet you can’t handle all those Batmen by yourself, so you’re asking us for help, right?”
“Besides, Batman won’t just hire you,” Peter said after thinking for a moment. “He’ll want to assign a Sorcerer Supreme to every universe, and you don’t know who to recommend. Are you looking for our advice?”
"Well, you could say that. So, who do you think is better?"
“What about that Doctor Strange who controls dreams?” Stark asked. “I think he’s pretty good. There’s also that Dark Doctor Strange who’s quite familiar with Helen, and the Doctor Strange from the main universe. That should be enough, right?”
"Why just a few of them?" Strange retorted.
"Doctor Strange of the Dream Force has a good relationship with you, and Doctor Strange of Darkness should also be on your side. The Spider-Man of the main universe and the Spider-Man of our universe have a good relationship, so you can try to win over Doctor Strange of the main universe. As for the others, I'm not too sure."
Strange understood that Stark was fully aware of his plan to establish a multiverse human alliance, so the individuals he recommended appeared to be key figures who would support him in the future. It would be beneficial to use this opportunity to strengthen relationships.
"What I'm more concerned about is, who will he send?" Captain America asked. "Neither Spider-Man nor I are good at fighting cybernetic lifeforms. I think it will most likely be Tony, and of course, Schiller, but I feel like Schiller is already gone."
“I think he’d want a few professionals,” Coulson said, bringing them ice, “like Magneto.”
“That’s no good,” Captain America shook his head and said. “Magneto is powerful, but also dangerous. He’s almost uncontrollable. Batman has never liked people like that, and even with Professor X by his side, he’s not reliable enough.”
"And what about Scarlet Witch?"
"The same logic applies. However, our universe's witch is too busy. Rogers and Franklin were born not long ago, and as the only person capable of suppressing them, Wanda has to keep an eye on them 24 hours a day. In addition to her own two children, she has been promoted to kindergarten principal."
The thought of children with increasingly outrageous mutant abilities made everyone shake their heads and sigh. Although their plan to use Franklin to suppress Rogers Jr. had succeeded, Franklin was no pushover either. Wanda was kept awake all night by his antics, and when they weren't watching him closely, he ran off to the Temple of Eternity and cried all night, causing Eternity to flee to another universe and not return to this day.
“Magneto had better not leave either,” Captain America said. “And Polaris and Quicksilver, only if their whole family is around can we ensure the kids don’t cause any trouble.”
Everyone nodded in agreement, clearly showing their approval. It was fortunate that Schiller had traveled back to World War II to change the past, allowing Magneto's youngest daughter to survive. This made him somewhat more like a father and now he could show some patience in raising children. Otherwise, these mutant babies alone could have turned the universe upside down.
Just then, Strange suddenly stood up and said, "Batman is here."
Everyone looked at him. Strange opened a portal, waved to them, and said, "Wish me luck."
After he left, the Avengers members didn't rush to leave. Captain America looked at Coulson and asked, "Natasha's been there for a long time now, how's she doing?"
“I was so busy I was constantly on the go,” Coulson said. “Running back and forth between two universes, dealing with the mess caused by those cyber life forms, I was busier than when I was at S.H.I.E.L.D.”
"I don't think she's very busy at S.H.I.E.L.D., she just drinks coffee and eats donuts every day..." Stark muttered to himself.
At that moment, Coulson answered a phone call, frowned slightly upon hearing what was being said on the other end, then covered the receiver and told the others, "Dr. Doom has gone to S.H.I.E.L.D."
Stark narrowed his eyes slightly and said, "What's he doing at S.H.I.E.L.D.? And at this time... Wait, could that cybernetic life form be related to him?"
Stark stood up, grabbed Coulson, and said, "Quick, let's go to S.H.I.E.L.D."
