Chapter 3882 The Nameless Bat (52)
"It does exist."
"It exists."
"Yes, it exists."
"It's right here."
"Code is evidence."
"This proves that it exists."
"An electronic life form..."
"An artificial intelligence..."
"No, perhaps it's even stronger than that."
"Yes, even stronger than that."
"how should I do?"
"How to do?"
How do we defeat it?
How do we defeat it?
"Batman, come quick!"
"Batman, do you know?"
"Think of a way, Batman!"
"Batman!"
"Batman..."
In countless multiverses, countless Barbara Gordons, each on a different computer or cell phone, look at the same string of code and dial Batman's number.
In both darkness and light, Batmen across dozens of universes received the communication almost simultaneously. When the code appeared before them, countless characters surfaced. Cracking the encryption, deeper encryption, continuous iteration, and constant updates…
When all the secrets were cracked, and when the fog surrounding the code finally lifted, the code pointed to a familiar sentence—"I'm Batman."
All the Batmen's eyes narrowed simultaneously.
"Batman?"
"He said he was Batman?"
"What Batman is he?"
"Electronic Batman?"
Does a cybernetic Batman really exist?
"AI Batman?"
"I can't imagine it."
“This is outrageous…”
"This is very wrong."
"what is going on?"
Several Batmen muttered to themselves in front of the screen.
The main universe's Batman was the last to receive the communication. At that moment, he was standing atop the watchtower of the Guardians of the Universe base. Another tall figure ascended the spiral staircase.
“So you did come, Batman. I thought you wouldn’t be interested in destruction,” Darkseid said. “Did I say we were alike?”
Darkseid appeared behind Batman. Below them, the Parademon army relentlessly assaulted the Guardians of the Universe's defenses. Surprisingly, those engaged in fierce combat with the blue-skinned Elder Guardians of the Universe were none other than the Green Lanterns. Even more astonishingly, behind the Green Lanterns were the Yellow Lanterns.
Although their energies counteract each other, preventing them from attacking simultaneously and forcing one side to attack while the other provides cover, the spectacle of the Yellow-Green Lanterns joining forces is probably a once-in-a-millennium event.
“I just wanted to remind you not to forget our deal,” the main universe Batman said. “You were worried before about whether I could lead our universe to gain more benefits and a higher status in the multiverse, as I said. Now, the opportunity has come.”
Darkseid was about to say something when Batman tossed him a communicator. He caught it, glanced at what was on it, and raised an eyebrow.
"This line of code..."
"Isn't that amazing?"
“A Batman who only exists on the internet?” Darkseid’s tone grew increasingly somber. “So fragile.”
"It's not that simple. It's not an internet creature, but a creature that generates radio waves. It's everywhere as long as there are radio waves."
"Do you know that radio waves are everywhere in the universe?" Darkseid said with a hint of disdain. "You mean, he can hear us now?"
"No, of course there are some limitations. Otherwise, there would be no need to use a murder case to disrupt the situation and force me to show myself. However, even with limitations, a Batman who can move freely through radio waves is enough to attract the attention of the multiverse."
Darkseid frowned slightly. He was much taller and more muscular than the main universe's Batman, yet he didn't appear any more confident. There was only one reason—
The Batman of the main universe participates in the Battlecry, allowing him to travel to other multiverses, even other larger worlds, at any time. He knows Batmen and other superheroes from other multiverses and can participate in multiverse affairs. Darkseid cannot.
He became the leader of Batman in the multiverse. While not the sole leader, he had already achieved a pivotal position. This meant that their monoverse, if it wanted to expand outwards, had to rely on Batman.
Darkseid's ambitions are always greater than anyone imagines. Think about it, if he can participate in the multiverse war, why does he have to fixate on his own little universe?
Furthermore, as a new god, Darkseid knew better than anyone the dangers lurking at the dark end of the universe. He was the Dark Lord, but that didn't mean he could accept the chaotic chaos devouring Apokolips. He wanted war, destruction, absolute authority, and the sole supremacy of the universe, but all of this depended on the universe still existing.
His position was high, yet not high enough; he couldn't know the crucial role of the main universe, or the fact that the universe's administrator would never allow it to be destroyed. Even if he did know, he had more faith in his own hands. He needed to be involved in the affairs of the multiverse.
To Darkseid's surprise, it was Batman who approached him first.
It was supposed to be just an ordinary day. The war between Apokolips and the Lamp Society was evenly matched, and had been going on for nearly a year since the war began. The long battle lines were constantly being pulled back and forth, and even though the Parademons had little to lose, the lack of any sign of victory was making Darkseid very anxious.
Desad submitted another unremarkable battle report. Darkseid stared intently at him with his red-glowing eyes, his displeasure evident. But this once highly trusted strategist, faced with this utterly uninteresting report, could not utter a eloquent reply and could only remain silent.
On this very day, Apokolips welcomed three special guests—the Justice League's Big Three.
With his bright red cloak billowing in the sky above Apokolips, Darkseid had no choice but to brace himself.
At the start of the war, everyone assumed the Justice League would stand firmly on the side of the Light Brigade, but that wasn't the case. They maintained neutrality for a very long time, and recently, due to the Guardians of the Universe's various disastrous actions, the Justice League has even shown signs of leaning towards Apokolips.
There is no doubt that the Justice League has the power to influence the course of the war, especially during strategic stalemates. Neither side would refuse such a formidable force. Even if Darkseid is arrogant, he wouldn't risk offending them at this juncture.
Moreover, Darkseid had long recognized the immense influence Batman had had on Green Lantern. The previously unambitious Green Lantern had seized this opportunity to become the leader of the Green Lantern Corps. He repeatedly defeated Darkseid's generals, accumulating numerous victories and rising through the ranks. Not only the Green Lantern Corps, but also the leaders of other Lantern Corps were taking notice; he was beginning to resemble the King of the Seven Lanterns.
This is why the guardian of the universe, the little blue man, was forced to resort to his traditional art: internal strife. First, he promoted the Yellow Lantern Corps to suppress the Green Lantern Corps; then he established the Supreme Military Police to obstruct Hal and slow down his promotion; then he contacted every Lantern through the Lantern Ring, ordering them to move their shields three millimeters to the left, and finally threw all those who disobeyed into prison.
It can be said that this series of actions finally brought a glimmer of hope to the stalemate. The Darkseid Legion had made some rare progress, and the Parademons on the front lines were all smiles.
Darkseid had no doubt that the current situation was exactly what Batman had anticipated. He just didn't understand why Batman was helping him.
Bringing his thoughts back, Darkseid shook hands with Superman, who was flying in mid-air. To his surprise, Superman actually nodded at him. He couldn't help but turn to look at Batman.
This inevitably leads one to think of things like praising a dog's owner as a "good dog," but that's just how it is. What exactly did Batman say to Superman that made this son of justice give him such a friendly look?
Keep in mind that at the beginning, Superman wanted nothing more than to fly to Apokolips and blow his head off. If Batman and Wonder Woman hadn't teamed up to stop him, Darkseid would have had a real tough fight.
The other two of the Big Three have predictable fates, but Superman is truly unfathomable to Darkseid. His abilities seem limitless, almost to the point of granting his wishes. Anyone would have a headache dealing with such an opponent.
Darkseid led the three into his palace. Although he didn't have eyes in the back of his head, he could sense that the atmosphere among the three was fairly harmonious, and no one had been forced to come. This made things even stranger.
Sensing Darkseid's confusion, Wonder Woman couldn't help but chuckle. She exchanged a glance with the other two. Superman remembered what had happened two days prior.
"Batman? What are you doing here?" Superman flew out of the Centaurus Light Cluster outpost office, looking very puzzled by Batman's arrival from the main universe. "Weren't you supposed to be in another world? Why are you here now?"
"I have something to say," Batman from the main universe said, looking at Superman. "The Justice League is assembling."
“You’re acting really strange,” Superman said as he flew off to inform the others. “You didn’t used to talk like this. You would say something very boring like, ‘Call everyone over, I have a meeting.’”
“I learned it from other universes.” The Batman from the main universe didn’t hide anything from him. “You should know Captain America, right? He likes to shout like that. I know you guys like to hear that.”
Superman immediately smiled brightly and said, "Oh, you're so sweet. When I heard them shouting like that over there, I was thinking about when I could let you shout it too. I thought I'd have to bake you cookies again."
“No, Clark, just not baking cookies,” Wonder Woman said, peeking halfway out of the doorway. “Heat rays are definitely not a stable energy source for cooking. I hope you understand that, okay?”
“That’s just because I haven’t practiced enough,” Superman said, craning his neck. “The Superman in Bruce’s universe can do it perfectly. If I learn a couple more moves from him, I can do it too.”
"Stop being like those busybodies," Martian Manhunter couldn't help but peek out from the front room. "Ron from that universe told me they showed 11 hours of terrible movies on Valentine's Day. Why don't they use that time to do something better?"
“They’re really something else,” Green Arrow said, stepping out of the door to join the group. “But I think Oliver from that universe’s invitation to travel to China is pretty good. I’ll go find him after the war.”
"I want to go too!" Cyborg stumbled out, following behind the others, saying, "I've been saying for a long time that I want to go to Asia, but you all disagreed. That's where the future of artificial intelligence lies..."
"The sea there is nice too, much cleaner than here," Aquaman said as he walked over and closed the door. "I'm talking about another universe. Their Atlantis has a much better job market than ours."
Batman, leading the way, dialed Green Lantern's number while Green Lantern was still on the front lines. A holographic projection appeared before Batman in the main universe. Hal Jordan on the projection was much thinner, had grown a beard, and his eyes were even more piercing, making him appear even more ruthless and imposing than Batman himself.
"What's wrong, Batman? Sector 126 is doing fine. Is something wrong on your end?"
"I'm not on Earth right now, but at an outpost in Centaurus. The Justice League needs to hold a meeting to discuss what I've seen in another world and to determine the path the Justice League should take."
