Chapter 3822 The School Doctor's "Daily Life" (Thirty-Seven)

It was another evening. Arkham Batman, having just finished dinner at the restaurant and heading back to his dorm, was stopped by the main universe Batman. The two walked side-by-side down the hallway. The main universe Batman turned to Arkham Batman and whispered, "Don't you think Night Owl's acting a little strange today?"

“It seems so,” Arkham Batman said. “The way he looked at you was off, too aggressive, and he even dared to look at me twice. That’s very abnormal.”

What do you think is wrong with him?

"Looks like your plan to send Iron Man to interrupt their learning didn't work," Arkham Batman said. "He definitely learned something from Schiller... wait a minute, how could Schiller teach him anything real?"

“That’s the problem,” said the main universe Batman. “Night Owl believes his special powers were given to him by Schiller, but Schiller wasn’t a sorcerer and didn’t understand contracts at all. So if Night Owl really did fulfill the contract, how did he do it?”

“Although Schiller is not a magician, he has a good relationship with the Sorcerer Supreme and may well know those demons. If he were to act as a go-between… no, the Sorcerer Supreme would never allow Schiller to act recklessly in this regard. If the demons outside are to be allowed to contract with the students in the school, then the control over the school must be relaxed, allowing the power of the demons to enter the school. But the Sorcerer Supreme will not allow such a thing to happen; this is a bottom line.”

“So now there are two possibilities,” the main universe Batman said. “Either Schiller really convinced the Sorcerer Supreme, or the Night Owl contract wasn’t with any demon at all.”

"You're saying the power he gains will cause problems?" Arkham Batman frowned.

“We’ll find out what’s going on once we try,” said the main universe Batman. “If he really gains the power, he’ll definitely go to the Enchanted Forest to test it out. Let’s go there tonight.”

"Isn't this too risky?" Arkham Batman said. "What if he actually attacks us?"

"So we can't go alone, I'll go and call Bruce."

The main universe Batman parted ways with Arkham Batman at the corner of the corridor and arrived at the entrance of the Mercury Academy dormitory, where he happened to block Bruce from leaving.

"You wanted to see me about something?" Bruce seemed to be in a bad mood.

"You failed to take advantage of the situation, didn't you?" The main universe Batman mercilessly exposed Bruce, saying, "You wanted to manipulate him when I suppressed Night Owl, made him worse off, or even put him in a desperate situation. But you didn't expect me to introduce Schiller as a variable. Night Owl turned the tables even before he was in a desperate situation. Your plan failed. So why don't you listen to my next plan?"

Bruce pursed his lips, offering no reply, which was taken as tacit agreement with the main universe Batman's conjecture. He said, "You shouldn't involve Dr. Schiller; he's a very dangerous man. In my opinion, much more dangerous than the Professor. The variables he brings won't do you any good."

"What makes you think I don't understand his danger?" The main universe Batman's tone remained calm as he said, "If a bomb is destined to explode, the smart thing to do is push my enemy as close to it as possible. Isn't that right?"

“You succeeded.” Bruce’s tone remained unchanged, “but whether or not I can control the owl is not important to me.”

"Sour grapes."

“Tell me what you’re up to,” Bruce said impatiently. “If you keep rambling, I’m not going to keep you company.”

“Night Owl may have gained new powers from Schiller, but we think there’s something wrong with it. He might go to the Enchanted Forest tonight to test his new powers, and you’ll come with us.”

Why should I...

"Either we beat him half to death, or he beats us half to death. Don't you want to watch the show?"

Bruce was silent. He thought, he really wanted to.

“Good, you win,” Bruce said. “If you beat him half to death, I’ll rush out to save him; if he beats you half to death, I’ll go back to school and get backup. Is that right?”

“That’s right.” The main universe Batman nodded and said, “Of course, it would be best to bring in another witness, just in case he denies it.”

The two finished their discussion after walking only a short distance, and then parted ways. When Bruce returned to his dorm, he bumped into Night Owl, who was walking in his direction. Bruce leaned against the stairwell, observing Night Owl, but Night Owl was clearly preoccupied and didn't notice his gaze.

As Night Owl brushed past him, Bruce twitched his nose slightly, a knowing look on his face.

"So it turns out they got involved with the devil who fought Lucifer in the Enchanted Forest that day. But Night Owl doesn't seem happy about getting revenge; instead, he still seems a bit annoyed. Tonight's going to be quite a show."

The night was cool and still, and the magic forest was even more damp. Night Owl trudged towards the lake, his steps uneven. Even with his newfound power, he still felt incredibly thirsty and burning with desire; only a soak in the cool water could alleviate his thirst.

Moreover, this damned power was not so easy to control; it simply wouldn't obey his commands, and he couldn't use it as precisely as other mages. Saffir said this was normal, but if he couldn't control it, wouldn't he be asking for trouble?

He has to deal with the main universe Batman and Arkham Batman as soon as possible, otherwise who knows how many more tricks they have up their sleeves?

The owl entered the lake. The lake was vast; once he reached the center, he could unleash his power without restraint. With practice, he could surely control it with ease.

Soaking in the lake, he began to continuously spread Mephisto's power outwards, sometimes transforming it into a sword blade to slash, and sometimes like a heavy hammer to smash the water's surface into ripples. However, he could never control the force well; either it was all bark and no bite, or it caused an explosion even though he hadn't exerted any force.

The main universe Batman and Arkham Batman, who were hiding behind a tree and watching everything, exchanged a glance. Sure enough, the power Night Owl had obtained was problematic. A normal sorcerer shouldn't be like this.

Because they had skipped a grade, they were able to communicate with more archmages. The archmages no longer shied away from discussing demons with them. In their conversations, the archmages often emphasized one thing: it was not that humans were asking demons for power, but rather that both sides were cooperating and mutually seeking something from each other.

Human souls are special to demons, yet they are constantly blocked by Earth's magical defense network. Therefore, agents become crucial communication channels. Under normal circumstances, demons will never harass their agents, and even out of respect for the Sorcerer Supreme, they will ensure their powers obey.

The reason why Night Owl is in this situation is clearly because the demon god dislikes him and is trying to make his power go against him, which is why his power is frequently out of control.

Nevertheless, the main universe Batman and Arkham Batman waited a while, until Owl had released most of his power and was ready to go ashore, before emerging from behind the tree.

"What are you doing here?!" Night Owl took a step back warily, then realized that they might have seen his movements.

"I didn't expect you to have already fulfilled the contract," said the main universe's Batman. "What do you think the Sorcerer Supreme will think?"

Night Owl's fist clenched instantly. He had already gone this far; he couldn't let the main universe's Batman ruin his plans.

Flames suddenly ignited, burning in the air with crackling explosions. The main universe Batman and the Arkham Batman instantly dodged to the sides. Their darts were thrown almost simultaneously, but were blocked by a blood-red shield.

The Night Owl revealed a sinister smile and said, "No matter what, I have gained far greater power than you. You have no chance to find the Sorcerer Supreme."

As soon as he finished speaking, flames roared up, and for a moment, Night Owl seemed to split into many shadows. The scent of ashes spread, and the main universe Batman and Arkham Batman had to stand back to back, wary of a sneak attack from the darkness.

Countless ashes drifted in, obscuring their vision. Suddenly, a fissure opened in the ground, and lava gushed forth, forming a giant hand that slammed towards them. The two dodged again, but the ashes floating in the air felt like sharp knives, slicing towards their vital points.

The main universe Batman used his arm to block, and within moments his arm was slashed and bloodied. The Arkham Batman, however, ducked into the bushes and was unharmed by the ash. He pulled the main universe Batman along, and the two of them hid behind a large tree.

"This is troublesome." Although the main universe Batman said this, there was not much tension in his tone.

Arkham Batman turned around and, sure enough, there was a glimmer of light behind the swirling ashes—Bruce must have arrived. But Bruce didn't show himself; clearly, he had no intention of saving them, only of watching the spectacle.

"Are you leaving?" Arkham Batman asked.

The main universe's Batman shook his head and said, "We need to probe his limits further. Can you find him?"

“No problem.” Batman Arkham focused intently and soon caught a faint heartbeat from behind another tree only two or three meters away from them.

In an instant, three darts were thrown. One struck a tree, forcing the owl out; the other two aimed straight for his face. As soon as the owl stepped out, he was met with the cold glint of the darts. He reacted a little too slowly, and even though he rolled to the side to dodge, one of the darts still grazed his eyelid.

"Uh……"

Blood flowed down, getting into his eyes and obscuring half of his vision. Arkham Batman, however, had already leaped onto the tree like a nimble cheetah, plunging down from his upper right blind spot and tackling Night Owl to the ground. Then came three punches, "Bang, bang, bang," and his other eye was also struck, leaving him with blackouts.

Night Owl let out an angry roar and used his magic to flip Arkham Batman off the ground. But as soon as the other man landed, he delivered another sweeping kick, and before Night Owl could even get up, he was lying down again, kicked hard in the waist, and rolled several times on the ground.

"You bunch...you bunch of bastards!!!" he cursed through gritted teeth, "I'm going to kill you all, I'm going to kill you all!!"

He didn't care whether he could control so much power anymore. A huge amount of magic power instantly erupted around his body, and raging flames burned within a ten-meter radius.

"Oh no, he's going to lose control!" said Batman Arkham. "Get out of here!"

But it was too late. The energy that the night owl had forcibly summoned was not released smoothly; instead, it was compressed within his body and triggered a violent explosion.

"boom!!!"

Strange, who was meditating in the principal's office, was nearly jolted off his couch. He quickly stood up and rushed to the window, staring dumbfounded at the sight of the collapsed trees in the Enchanted Forest: "What happened again? Is the Enchanted Forest cursed? Why are there problems every other day? If this keeps up, will the movie really be released on schedule?"

“Wait a minute.” Strange tapped his head. “This isn’t about the movie. Who blew up the Enchanted Forest? Could it be Mephisto again?”

Strange didn't care about anything else and flew straight to the explosion site, where he saw Batman lying on the ground.

He knew it! He knew it was those Batmen who were behind it!

Strange was furious. But despite his anger, he quickly rescued everyone, using magic to pull them all ashore and then taking them to the school hospital.

Schiller hadn't slept yet today, so I helped him put all the Batmen on the hospital bed. After Strange left, Schiller looked at the room full of Batmen and smiled with satisfaction.
