Chapter 3348 Farm Adventure (Part )
Chapter 3348 Farm Adventure (Part )
Chapter 3348 Farm Adventure (Part )
California, 6:23 AM.
The Pacific Ocean tide crushes the first rays of light in the early morning of California into gold, which seeps into the farm through the cracks of the dilapidated wooden boardwalk. Outside the old garage, the sound of wind chimes and the cries of seagulls collide to create a crisp echo.
Jason pushed open the door and walked out of the garage, his hair and eyelashes clinging to the water droplets of morning mist, his boots stepping over the edge of the muddy field. When he saw the series of raccoon footprints, he couldn't help but curse.
"Dick! Dick! Look at what you've done." Jason pointed at the footprints and turned around to shout, "I told you that the car hadn't been repaired yet and couldn't be driven, but you insisted on driving it. You even crashed into the railing and a raccoon ran in. It must have eaten the ingredients for the ice cream machine I prepared!"
Dick was holding a shovel covered in mud, digging out the railing that was crushed by a car yesterday. Hearing Jason's shout, he threw the shovel aside, pulled up his pants, and said while lowering his head to tie the belt made of hemp rope, "Is it my fault that I trusted your car repair skills too much, okay?"
"You trusted too soon," Jason said. "I told you it would take another night to fix it, but you didn't listen! We could have had some delicious ice cream today..."
"Okay, stop complaining," Dick interrupted. "That old hand-cranked ice cream machine isn't even going to work yet. We still have to fix the car first."
Tim's voice came from the garage: "It can be started, come and have a look!"
The two of them hurried in, and Tim was just pushing open the car door and getting out. Seeing the mud on their ankles, he showed a disgusted expression and quickly tucked his trouser legs into his boots.
Dick dusted his hands, opened the door, got in, and turned the key. The car jolted violently, but it didn't seem to start at all.
"Oh shit! It's still not fixed!" Dick was dragged out by Jason before he could finish his curse. Jason got in the car, holding the steering wheel with one hand and turning the key with the other. With a "click", the car started successfully.
"Tsk," Dick said with some disdain, "then you'll be responsible for driving and transporting goods from now on. God bless the fences on the farm."
Jason ignored him, turned his head left and right excitedly, backed the car out of the garage, and slowly adjusted the angle. Just as he was about to drive the car out, Harley rushed over with a big speaker made of palm leaves, and lay outside the fence and shouted at him:
"Are you deaf?! Jason Todd! The road outside is not repaired yet. If you drive out now, your tires will get stuck in the puddle and splash mud all over everyone!!!"
"No, you have to trust my driving skills." Jason turned the steering wheel stubbornly and drove out from the side of the garage yard. Then he was hit hard and his butt was lifted off the seat.
"Ah! Damn it!" Tim, who was chasing after him, used his arms to block himself. The moment the tire of the car stepped into the puddle, he was splashed with mud and water.
The tire was stuck, and Jason got out to check and found that one side of the car was higher than the other. The right rear wheel was stuck in the mud and was spinning helplessly.
He quickly dodged the palm leaves that Harley threw at him.
"What happened to this lousy farm?" Dick couldn't help but complain. "Was the original owner a dinosaur? How could he trample the road into this state? Professor Schiller must have been tricked by them!"
"You know what, the shape of this puddle really does look a bit like a dinosaur footprint." Tim leaned over to take a look and said, "It's just much bigger than that. It looks like a giant dinosaur."
"Hurry up and get the car back." Harley said, "The hurricane at sea is about to land, and the doctor hasn't come back yet. If we don't plan to hide in the stone house, we have to take care of our cabin first. There is no time to waste!"
The three boys worked together to lift the car's tire out of the puddle and pushed the car back to the garage.
Dick was picking up the scattered repair tools when he turned around and saw Jason and Tim tying an old hand-cranked ice cream machine to a cart.
"Do you really have to take this thing back?" Dick slapped his forehead and said, "The raw materials are gone, what are you going to use to make ice cream?"
"If the raw materials are gone, we can buy more. The hurricane won't affect Raven's use of teleportation magic to go to Los Angeles to buy things."
Dick sighed helplessly, but Jason and Tim were too excited, so he could only walk over and help them tighten the rope.
The weather in California during the rainy season is unpredictable. It was sunny when they woke up, but in less than an hour, dark clouds covered the sky. When they pushed the cart out, a strong wind blew, and then it started to rain.
The unimproved dirt road turned into a swamp in just a few minutes. Jason's flip-flops seemed to be glued to the ground, and only Tim, wearing waterproof boots, could barely run.
"Oh, God's shit!" Jason suddenly screamed and fell to the ground sideways. Dick and Tim quickly helped him up, and Jason covered his ankle and screamed in pain.
With a whoosh, a golden light flashed by. Barry, holding a tattered canvas umbrella, appeared in front of the group. Dick quickly took the umbrella from him and covered Tim and Jason with it.
"The portal is coming!" Raven's voice sounded in their ears, and a portal emitting purple light suddenly appeared.
In the strong wind, several people supported each other and walked into the portal. A large wet mass fell in the middle of the living room that had just been cleaned, causing Pamela, who was holding a broom in front of the fireplace, to scream.
"Oh my God, what happened?!" Pamela put the broom aside and walked over and said, "Jason, what's wrong with you?"
Jason grimaced in pain, holding his ankle and saying, "I think I sprained my foot."
"Yes, it's easy to tell." Pamela looked at Jason's ankle, which was swollen like a big loaf of bread and said, "I'm just asking how you sprained it."
"They both insisted on pushing that damn ice cream machine!" Dick said in a raised voice.
"You guys didn't wear your waterproof boots!" Tim retorted immediately, "You should have put on boots when you knew it was going to rain!"
"Stop talking about this," Barry said, frowning. "Get some ice to reduce the swelling, and then apply some medicine."
"He looks like the oldest of you," Harry said angrily. "You shouldn't have gone to the garage after you knew it was going to rain! What's the magic of that 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea car?"
Cassandra was obviously awakened by the noise downstairs. When she saw so many people gathered at the bottom of the building, she was stunned for a moment. Blue Beetle, who had just walked out of the room, appeared in the crowd with a holographic flash and almost pushed Tim next to him down.
"Oh, sorry. I'm not very good at it yet," said Ted.
Jason was helped to lie down on the sofa, and Harley went over to check his injuries. After carefully checking the condition of his ankle, she shook her head and said, "It's hopeless. Let's amputate it."
Jason threw a pillow over.
Harry then put away his gloating expression, cleared his throat and said seriously, "This is a serious sprain. But the hurricane's evacuation notice was issued last night, and the community hospital is definitely not open. Now either go to Los Angeles to see a doctor, or deal with it first and see how the situation is."
Tim looked at his severely swollen ankle, frowned deeply and said, "I think we should go to Los Angeles. I heard from the doctor that I can hire a shuttle with my phone. Should I call one?"
"No." Jason refused. He said, "That's very expensive, and you may not be able to get checked immediately after you go. You don't want to go to the emergency room, do you?"
Pamela went to get some ice, put it in a bag and tied it to Jason's ankle, then said, "It will be easier to judge the condition of the bones after the swelling goes down. If the bones are not injured, there is no need to go to the hospital."
"It seems that this is the only way to do it now." Dick shook his head and said, "I will go get you some dry clothes."
Jason was still lying on the sofa, stretching his arms and shouting to Tim: "Move our ice cream machine in. Don't let the hurricane blow it away!"
The weather was getting worse. The palm trees outside the window were shaken by the indeterminate strong wind. The wooden structure of the house could not withstand such a strong hurricane. Pamela used vines to hold the foundation, and Ted used his holographic ability to fix the house on the foundation, which barely prevented the house from being blown away.
The time spent hiding from the rain in the house was dull and boring. Jason fell asleep on the sofa, snoring softly. He turned over from time to time, and his ankle, which was fixed and unable to move, was uncomfortable, and he grumbled in dissatisfaction.
Harley and Pamela played cards with Cassandra in front of the fireplace. The wood was crackling. Ted and Barry played an online farming game on the holographic screen, deliberately lowering their voices to discuss the plants they were going to plant.
Dick and Raven were having a love affair in the hallway again, and Tim was listening in on their college dorm gossip while he was tinkering with the ice cream machine in the kitchen.
The whole afternoon was spent like this. Until Harley's cell phone rang, and when she heard the familiar voice on the other end, she threw the cards on the table, stood up and said, "Doctor! You're finally coming back!!"
The others were startled and came over. Schiller's gentle voice came from the other end of the phone: "Yes, we are on our way back from Los Angeles. We are going to go to the restaurant to pack some food later. What do you want to eat?"
"I want tacos!" Ted was the first to raise his hand and yell, "No tomatoes, no offal. More chili!"
"Do you have any chili dogs?" Pamela leaned over and asked. "I never eat them in Gotham, but I wanted to eat them as soon as I left."
"I'm trying to lose weight. I want a vegetable salad with juice. The sauce should be served separately." Harley said, "If it's a meat sauce pizza, give me one, double the cheese, and I'll eat it after dinner."
They talked about what they wanted to eat. Schiller said helplessly, "Kids...kids! I'm not at a street food stand. This is one of the most expensive restaurants in Los Angeles, with three Michelin stars!"
Everyone looked at each other. Harley was the first to rub her hands and said, "Doctor, this is not good. Isn't it a bit too expensive?"
"Forget it." Schiller said, "I'll pack some for you to take back according to my taste. You just need to tell me whether you like spicy food or not. By the way, I brought a guest with me this time. Please clean up the room."
"Guest? Who? The superhero here? Captain America?"
They were excited again. After hanging up the phone, they cleaned the living room while discussing who would come. Although most of them had met superheroes in the fighting world, most of them were fully armed. They had never seen the daily appearance of Marvel heroes.
Soon the hum of the shuttle began to rise above the farm, the sound of the car engine died down beside the cabin, and there was a sound of stamping feet on the doormat.
The door opened with a creaky sound. Schiller walked in carrying a lot of plastic bags. Everyone came over curiously, but the face behind Schiller was surprisingly familiar.
"Bruce?!"
