Chapter 2237 - 642: Homecoming, a Hungry Man (Part 4)
"Where are Big Brother and Second Brother? Where’s Ah Lin?" An Yiqing couldn’t help asking as soon as she stepped inside.
"Silly girl, are you confused by the travel? It’s Monday today." Kong Shi looked at her amusedly.
An Yiqing froze and then awkwardly touched her nose. It was Monday, so Ah Lin and her brothers were obviously at work.
Giggling, she wrapped her arms around Kong Shi’s arm and said with a big grin, "Mom, I brought back lots of good stuff from Flower Island. Take a look."
As she spoke, she opened the small suitcase and began taking out the things she had brought back one by one.
Perfume, lipstick, silk scarves, cufflinks, lighters, and various Flower Island specialties filled the entire table.
The An Family stared at her wide-eyed, unable to comprehend how she managed to fit so many things into such a small suitcase.
"Grandma, this is Flower Island’s most famous roast goose, specially bought for you." An Yiqing picked up a vacuum-packed roast goose and said with a smile.
"Grandpa, this is Wang Xizhi’s authentic work I got from Elder Tang of Xuanmen, you’ll definitely like it."
"Mom, the perfume, lipstick, and silk scarves are for you. Dress up beautifully so Dad can’t take his eyes off you."
"Dad, these cufflinks go well with your gray suit, and there’s a lighter too. Even though you don’t smoke, you might need it for business gatherings."
An Yiqing ran around busily, enjoying herself immensely. Only at times like these did the infamous An Yiqing turn into a genuine neighborhood girl, cheerfully distributing the treasures she had collected to her elders.
The An Family beamed with delight, showing all teeth but no eyes. They had seen all kinds of good things, but still felt their child’s gifts were the best and most heartfelt. Old Lady An gave An Yiqing a big kiss and went to the kitchen with the roast goose. Old Master An carefully admired Wang Xizhi’s authentic work, his eyes filled with admiration and joy. Kong Shi’s face flushed from An Yiqing’s teasing, yet her eyes sparkled with joy. And An Zisheng, being a daughter fanatic, had already taken the cufflinks and lighter, eagerly snapping photos with his phone. He posted them in the friends circle, showing off the pictures.
An Yiqing rested her chin in her hands, smiling as she watched everyone happily cherish the gifts she had given them. Her heart was warm. Such happiness and bliss, she would do anything to preserve it.
That afternoon, An Yiqing was pushed back to her room by Kong Shi for a nap. When she woke up, it was already dusk.
Groggily sitting up in bed, she turned her head and froze.
In the sunset, a figure was sitting in a rocking chair by the bed. The orange-red warmth enveloped him, making him both charming and warm.
"Ah Lin?" An Yiqing murmured softly.
"Mm," the man stood up from the rocking chair and walked to the bedside, sitting down and stretching out his long arms to embrace her, "Awake now."
"Hmm, when did you get back?" An Yiqing wrapped her arms around Gu Yelin’s waist and rested her little head on his shoulder, contentedly squinting her eyes and taking a deep breath of that familiar scent.
"Not long after you fell asleep." She was back, how could he sit still? After quickly finishing his work, he drove back straight away.
Even though she was sleeping, simply watching her peaceful face brought him happiness.
An Yiqing leaned against the man’s embrace, her little hand tugging at his shirt absentmindedly, her voice soft, "Ah Lin, I missed you."
She truly missed him, nearly two months without him by her side. Even sleeping felt unsettling at night. Uncertain when it began, he had become someone she must have in her life. She had grown accustomed to his silence, his gaze, his tenderness, his domineering ways. She loved it all, and she was besotted with him.
The girl’s soft and tender voice seemed like gentle water flowing into Gu Yelin’s cold heart. His lips curled up into a beautiful smile, and the ice instantly melted.
"I missed you too, very much." His voice was deep and filled with deep affection.
Her eyebrows arched in delight, An Yiqing tightened her embrace around him. In the orange-red warmth of the sunset, they held each other tightly, quietly enjoying this rare and precious moment of warmth.
It wasn’t until An Zhiyan knocked on the door that they reluctantly parted.
"Niuniu? Little sister? Time to eat! Little sister?" An Zhiyan persistently called from outside, knocking repeatedly, making Gu Yelin’s expression turn frosty.
He stood up and walked to the door, pulling it open with one swift motion, casting a cold gaze at the outside An Zhiyan.
"Oh, finally willing to open the door?" Seeing Gu Yelin in the room, An Zhiyan wasn’t surprised. He teasingly glanced at the icy man, laughing even more cheerfully.
