Chapter 581: Father, take him.
Chapter 581: Father, take him.
It wasn’t quick.
At least not as quick as Kael was expecting in his mind. Yes, Imperia had prepared well, there were multiple ant colonies she found when she last came here and although those colonies no longer lived here and were all taken to the Heights, they still knew about the terrain and what kind of beasts were seen in which areas.
Of course, Imperia couldn’t give Kael exact information in real time. Without her ants, even she did not have that ability, but Kael had his own senses and Cirri for that.
With a bit of searching and digging around, searching for specific beasts that were known to live in the area he was moving through wasn’t difficult.
Someone like Kael, with Cirri’s help, could do it without much difficulty.
The problem, however, were the beasts themselves.
Kael searched for a long time, he moved through dense mist, areas with next to no light, and through areas that were considerably dangerous and after all these difficulties, the beasts he did find were... disappointing.
A beast that looked like a fat lizard mixed with a slug, its skin coated in moss and wet leaves, its eyes dull gold. Thin tendrils grew from its back like soft vines. It opened its mouth and released a puff of green mist. The mist spread over a dead patch of soil and, slowly... tiny sprouts appeared.
Verdslug.
[Sylvamire Verdsloth Bloodline detected]
The instant the beast appeared, Kael’s [Primordial Sense] was activated and a name appeared in front of him.
"A Sylvamire Verdsloth..."
Kael said the name out loud.
Honestly, looking at the beast itself, Kael didn’t have high hopes.
And he was correct, the moment he asked Igni about it—
’They were... useful, I’d say.’
The Dragon began.
’They used to wander the old forests, back when the land was still recovering from the ancient wars. They were big, slow, and their bodies were covered in moss and wet leaves, always leaving green behind wherever they crawled.
They were never fighters. They were durable, yes, a Verdsloth could survive long wars, but it wouldn’t win those wars. They cared more about the land itself.
They had the power to heal land, dead soil, burned forests, poisoned fields, or even a battlefield that was now barren after a war that destroyed everything. Leave a Verdsloth there and life will come back.
Verdsloths were one of the few reasons the Ancient Worlds weren’t destroyed, they protected it as much as they could in their own way.’
Igni explained.
As he got older, stronger and more reliable, his ’Dragon Knowledge’ had gotten much clearer as well. He could piece together some information regarding the Ancient Era, but still, there were clear memories in his head.
Kael tried to talk to him about it, he tried to talk about this Ancient World he mentioned, a world that had not just Primordial Fire Dragons, but Primordial Sky Dragons, Mother of All Ants, Laviatharid and multiple other such... ridiculously strong beasts, but other than the fact that such a world indeed existed, Igni didn’t seem to know much about it.
Even then, the amount of information he did have was enough, especially at a time like this.
"So not this one?"
Kael asked.
’Not for the purpose you require a Bond for. Verdsloths can heal, their healing powers are stronger than most of those Sky Soldiers’ beasts, but when compared to other beasts in the Ancient World, they were... lackluster.
After all, healing physical wounds wasn’t their specialty, their main power was their control over land and healing that land unnaturally fast.
They could regenerate acres of land within a matter of seconds, but healing lost limbs would prove to be quite difficult.’
The Primordial Fire Dragon explained and—
"I understand."
Kael nodded.
With that, the search continued, this was merely the first of the beasts Imperia had marked in her mind.
Kael went deeper, his surroundings continued to change the more he moved, the trees grew thicker, the fog grew colder, mushrooms began to glow on the path. Five minutes later, Kael reached a dark creek that ran without sound. The water there was black because no light touched it.
A beast drank from it.
A long-necked deer-like creature with a mane of hanging moss. Its legs were thin, its body small, and its ribs showed. When it looked up, its eyes shined faintly green.
A Mossgrazer.
A beast Kael had once studied. It had the power to heal quite a few wounds, when fully grown, it could even attach a smoothly cut limb but... it still couldn’t regenerate them.
Yes, it wasn’t strong enough either and—
[Sylvagrove Tender Bloodline detected.]
His Primordial Sense activated, Kael asked Igni again and—
’These ones used to roam in the deeper woods. Thin deer-like things with moss hanging from their manes and eyes that glowed green in the dark. They weren’t strong. In fact, most hunters said they were too fragile for real fights.
But they had their uses.
Like Verdsloths healed lands, these healed forests. Again, not an ideal choice.’
And once again, another beast was rejected.
The Shrouded Wilds was a cruel place, not only was the visibility here low, the beasts here were dangerous too.
It honestly wasn’t the place where healing-type beasts, beasts that are generally weaker in combat, could easily survive.
Not to mention before this, Kael had been to the Main Lands, the Main Cities, the Main Market, he had seen beasts that were far above what most people had access to, so his standards were quite high.
Even when he had [Genesis of the Ancients].
But of course, Kael had had this ability for a long time now. Not to mention he had been living in the Heights, if there was any place that lacked resources, it was the Heights, even when it came to beasts.
The beasts he found there were even weaker than the ones here. Some of them were at a level so low that if he were to use his talent on them, even then they would only reach the level of modern-day Epic Rank Beasts.
This was the reason he came here in the first place.
This was literally the best place he currently had access to, so he... he remained patient.
The search continued, the next few finds were on a similar level as well, Kael did find some that seemed good enough, some that even Igni thought would be a good addition to their family, but Imperia shook her head.
She only wanted the best for her Father, so she made him walk further and further. At the same time, she also contacted other colonies she found nearby, even if they were not Whisperveils, they still knew the surroundings quite well and gave useful information.
And finally—
After five hours of long, tiresome searching.
Kael finally found something.
As he walked forward, the mist, that was so thick that Kael couldn’t even see his own hands if he moved them forward and was solely moving based on Cirri’s instructions, a place almost no beast or human comes to—
Suddenly, the mist thinned.
And as Kael’s vision cleared up, he saw it.
A... stag-like beast.
Its fur was emerald—deep green, almost black in the shade—yet it shimmered when it moved, like wet leaves under moonlight. Along its body, vine-like patterns glowed faintly, lines that twisted and curled like living roots under skin.
Its antlers were not bone. They were branches.
Living branches.
Soft leaves grew from them, each leaf glowing with faint green light.
And then—
[Celestial Lifehart’s Bloodline Detected.]
A notification popped out.
"Celestial Lifehart...?"
Kael muttered the name out loud and the instant Igni heard it—
’A what...?’
He asked, seemingly dumbfounded.
"A Celestial Lifehart."
Kael repeated and Igni... didn’t say anything.
"Igni?"
Kael called out, confused and inwardly excited. This was exactly the reaction he wanted, this alone was more than enough for him to know it was a good find. Now he just wanted to listen to what Igni had to say.
And that’s what the Dragon did.
’Father, take him.’
"Are you sure?"
Kael asked, just in case.
’Very.’
The Dragon nodded confidently.
Then he began.
’Celestial Lifeharts were... rare, even in the Ancient World. They were... living miracles that walked on the ground.
In a battlefield where a Celestial Lifehart appeared, the battle itself stopped because the rest understood that the wounded would not die, not unless they were killed that very instant, before the Lifehart’s Light could reach them.
Shattered bones, torn flesh, missing limbs, it didn’t matter what the injury was or how critical it was, as long as one had even a speck of life in them, be it the strongest Dragon or the weakest being,
They would return to a natural, healthy state within a matter of seconds.
There were even rumors that they could bring the dead back to life, but of course, those were just rumors,
They were never proven.
But...’
Igni paused for a moment, then, with a deep, convincing voice—
’You need him, Father.’
He spoke and Kael—
He looked at the beast in front of him and his blue eyes glowed intensely.
