Chapter 404 Meeting with the Movie Star: Something to Discuss
Chapter 404 Meeting with the Movie Star: Something to Discuss
It's perfectly normal for actors to get into character to varying degrees during filming.
However, some actors become so immersed in their roles that they can't distinguish between reality and fiction. This is more common among accomplished senior figures in the industry.
There have even been good actors who suffered from depression because they couldn't get out of character and ultimately took their own lives.
Ning Yao grew increasingly frightened as she thought about it, and cold sweat suddenly broke out on her back.
She quickly returned to the lounge and stayed by Ning Duoduo's side, never leaving her for a moment.
Ning Duoduo remained curled up in the corner, letting out faint sobs that were barely audible unless you listened carefully.
After she had cried enough, Ning Duoduo moved her stiff arms and legs that had gone numb from squatting. The moment she looked up, her eyes were blank, especially when she saw Ning Yao standing beside her. Her empty eyes trembled, revealing disbelief.
She had already adjusted her emotions, but today on set, there was a scene depicting her mother's death.
To get into character, Ning Duoduo was forced to recall those sad emotions. As the fragmented scenes gradually came together, she managed to confuse two different dramas into one, even mixing up the real-life Ning Yao.
Ning Yao watched as large, glistening tears welled up in Ning Duoduo's eyes, which were also swollen. Her heart clenched with pain.
"Don't cry, Duoduo, Mommy will hug you." Ning Yao hurriedly put down the dessert packaging she had prepared for Ning Duoduo, stepped forward and hugged the girl tightly, gently patting her back.
If Ning Duoduo continues to cry like this, her eyes will be ruined.
Feeling Ning Yao's body temperature was warm, Ning Duoduo seemed to wake up from a dream. She tightly gripped Ning Yao's sleeve with both hands and refused to let go, crying so hard that she could hardly breathe.
Ning Yao finally managed to coax Ning Duoduo. Seeing her daughter sitting obediently beside her, sniffling, her fingers still clutching her sleeve, Ning Yao felt both heartache and amusement.
"Have some water first." Ning Yao picked up the water glass with her free hand, handed it to Ning Duoduo, and said softly.
After crying for so long, Ning Duoduo hadn't had a drop of water, and her complexion wasn't good either; she was pale and bloodless. It would be terrible if she became dehydrated.
"This dessert was made by Mr. Bocuse. It's delicious and won't make you fat. You can eat it without worry; it's not high in calories." Ning Yao tore open the packaging bag with one hand, took out a crystal-clear pink pastry, picked up a piece with a small fork, and put it to Ning Duoduo's mouth.
Ning Duoduo obediently opened her mouth and ate it. The soft and sweet pastry melted in her mouth, and her brain received sugar energy, which made her feel much more relaxed.
Ning Yao kept quiet about getting too caught up in the role, and simply sat with her daughter chatting and eating dessert together.
"Do you have any more scenes to film later?" Ning Yao asked, putting down her fork.
Ning Duoduo thought for a moment, then nodded and replied with three words: "There are still some."
Hearing Ning Duoduo say this, Ning Yao got up and walked to the freezer next to her. She bent down and skillfully took out a few ice packs.
Film crews usually prepare ice packs so that actors can immediately apply cold compresses to reduce swelling after crying, so they can prepare for the next scene.
"Let me apply this to you, and you'll look better later."
Ning Yao was standing, while Ning Duoduo was sitting. Looking down at her from above, Ning Duoduo's eyes looked swollen like two big walnuts.
Ning Yao couldn't help but burst out laughing.
Emotions are contagious; Ning Yao's suppressed laughter made Ning Duoduo laugh along with her.
"What's wrong? Do I look funny right now?" Ning Duoduo tried to open her eyes wide, hoping to see Ning Yao's appearance clearly through the swollen gaps.
Her eyes were filled with longing and reluctance, and Ning Yao dared not look at them for too long, for it would only hurt her heart.
"It's alright, it's just that her eyes have shrunk a lot, almost to the point of being squinty-eyed." Ning Yao said as she took a few photos of Ning Duoduo.
She forgot to turn off the flash. Ning Duoduo was in a relatively dark spot, and the flash on the back of the phone suddenly went off. Caught off guard, Ning Duoduo stared blankly in Ning Yao's direction and was caught on camera.
"Mom!" Ning Duoduo said helplessly. She knew that she looked ugly when she cried. Even if she cried her heart out, it wouldn't look good. When you're emotionally broken, who cares about whether your crying looks good on camera?
"Okay, okay, Mom will put an ice pack on your eyes, I won't tease you anymore." Ning Yao coaxed Ning Duoduo, suppressing a laugh as she stepped forward and applied the ice pack.
"If you cry in a play, that's being dedicated. But if you can't get out of character after filming and hide in your room to keep crying, that's being obsessed."
"A play is a play, and reality is reality," Ning Yao said seemingly casually, then realized something was wrong and quickly changed the subject.
Ning Duoduo's body stiffened for a moment before returning to normal, but her mood, which had finally improved, sank again.
At this moment, Ning Duoduo's aura was clearly off. Ning Yao could sense Ning Duoduo's emotional changes and knew that she was starting to feel pain and struggle again. After sighing in her heart, Ning Yao decided not to mention this matter for the time being.
Ning Yao didn't leave the set all day. She just sat casually on the small stool that the crew members had brought for her, watching her daughter act.
The crew members were particularly interested in this tall woman wearing a baseball cap and a black mask.
Judging from the woman's figure and demeanor, she is most likely an actress in the entertainment industry.
Her entire face was almost completely obscured, with only a pair of beautiful fox-like eyes visible, gleaming with a clear light. The crew members chatted amongst themselves, but none of them could guess who she was.
So someone approached Ning Duoduo's agent, Mu Jie, and asked, half-jokingly, "Sister Mu, who is that beautiful woman you brought?"
Sister Mu glared at the other person with annoyance and replied coldly, "No comment."
"Even though I can't see her face, I still think she's very beautiful, and her figure is amazing. There aren't many actresses in the industry with that height." As he spoke, he seemed to suddenly realize something, slapped his forehead, and belatedly exclaimed, "Ouch!"
Yeah, among actresses of this height, it seems like Ning Yao is the only one who has any connection with Ning Duoduo, right?
It must be her!
As the staff member thought this, a shy smile unconsciously appeared on their face.
Ning Yao is his goddess; it would be wonderful if she were really him.
Ning Yao was watching Ning Duoduo's acting intently when her phone, which was held between her fingers, vibrated almost imperceptibly.
With a slight turn of her finger, she quickly positioned the other end of the screen facing her. Looking down, she saw that Tang Xiaoge had replied to her message.
While waiting on set, Ning Yao proactively sent a message to Tang Xiaoge, asking for advice on how to deal with actors getting too immersed in their roles.
She knew very few actors in the industry, and even fewer experienced veteran actors. Tang Xiaoge was the first person she thought of.
Tang Xiaoge: [It's not something that can be explained in a few words. If it's convenient, let's find a time to talk in person.]
Ning Yao glanced down at the messages, her fingertips rapidly tapping the screen as she replied.
Ning Yao: [Are you free today? I have something urgent to attend to, but I'm available whenever you can.]
Tang Xiaoge replied almost instantly: [You're free. Where are you right now?]
Tang Xiaoge: [I'll be available around noon. Where are you now? Let's reserve a table and have lunch together?]
Ning Yao thought about it. She and Tang Xiaoge were both actors in the industry. If they met in private, the entertainment media might write all sorts of things about them.
Fortunately, Hengdian is a film and television base, so even if she and Tang Xiaoge appear at the same time, it won't seem too abrupt.
So Ning Yao told Tang Xiaoge about her experience at the Hengdian World Studios and waited for him to make a decision.
