Chapter 340 The Suppressor
Chapter 340 The Suppressor
“Team member Nozue,” Megumi Kijima walked toward the control panel, “recall all reports of abnormal energy fluctuations and unexplained phenomena worldwide over the past month, as well as... all anonymous or untraceable communications related to ‘prophecies’ and ‘warnings,’ no matter how absurd or insignificant they may seem.”
Ye Rui paused for a moment, then understood the captain's intention: "You want to investigate whether someone is actively guiding us to discover these 'ripple points'?"
“It’s just a feeling,” Megumi Kijima did not deny. “Things came one after another, too quickly. If it were a natural ‘loosening,’ there might be a longer warning period and more scattered signs. But now… it’s almost guiding us to quickly find the next connection point from one point.”
Zong Fang also came over, his expression grave: "The captain's concerns are not unfounded. If there really is a 'big hand' behind the scenes, what is its purpose? Is it to give us an early warning and prepare us? Or... is it deliberately trying to make us trigger something?"
“Both possibilities are dangerous,” Megumi said in a deep voice. “If it’s the former, it means that even the ‘Guide’ believes the crisis is imminent and may be beyond the scope of conventional responses. If it’s the latter…” She didn’t finish her sentence, but everyone understood that it meant a trap.
Karen seemed to have overheard their conversation. The data processing speed didn't slow down at all, but her calm voice interrupted: "Captain, according to fragmented records of deep data from the old era, some extremely ancient or advanced civilizations sometimes use methods like 'phased information unlocking' or 'condition-triggered inheritance' to leave key knowledge or warnings to future generations. The triggering conditions might be a specific time, celestial phenomena, or... the civilization reaching a certain technological or cognitive threshold."
Horii looked up and adjusted his glasses: "You mean, it might not be a specific 'person' or force manipulating things, but rather some kind of 'program' pre-programmed by an ancient civilization being activated? Because our TPC's monitoring technology has reached a certain level, or because we've come into contact with the 'key' of the lunar ruins, so the related 'locks' are lighting up one after another?"
“This is a logical deduction,” Karen nodded, “but the possibility of active intervention cannot be ruled out. There are also vague records in the database of ‘observer,’ ‘guide,’ or ‘tester’ civilizations. They sometimes covertly observe the development of lower-level civilizations or exert influence at crucial moments.”
Megumi felt a slight throbbing in her temples. Whether it was a pre-programmed procedure or active intervention, it meant that their every move was likely under the watchful eye of an unknown entity, and they were being pushed in a predetermined direction.
“Stay vigilant, but keep the action in place.” She finally decided, “Whatever is behind it, the information we have points to a real potential threat.”
Those things that are sealed away. Uncovering the truth, assessing the risks, and protecting the Earth and humanity—this is the GUTS' unchanging core mission. But at the same time, everyone must be vigilant and watch out for any unnatural 'coincidences' or 'guidance'.
"understand!"
Lunar base, temporary camp on the outskirts of Royal Valley.
Lin Yeming ended his communication with the command center, closed "The Customs and Traditions of Taiping," and carefully placed it back in the sealed box.
He walked to the observation window and gazed down at the peculiar valley below, which gleamed with a cold, eerie light under the searchlight.
The entrance to the spherical cavity at the bottom of the valley, to him at that moment, resembled the slightly open mouth of a sleeping behemoth.
"That Karen guy...she's quick." He muttered to himself, a barely perceptible smile playing on his lips. The Game City's database? The deep network remnants? It sounded plausible, and it did provide a key angle and a "reasonable explanation."
"Advisor, the exploration team is ready. Shall we proceed with the plan to enter the valley?" A head of the Lunar Development Bureau approached to ask for instructions.
Lin Yeming snapped out of his thoughts and nodded: "Proceed as planned. But I want to reiterate that all actions should prioritize non-contact detection and external sampling analysis. Without my direct orders, no one is allowed to enter the cavity, and in particular, touching any parts suspected of being energy circuits or structural cores is strictly prohibited."
"Yes!"
The exploration team began to move systematically towards the valley floor. Various high-precision sensors, ground-penetrating radars, and energy field analyzers were carefully deployed around the entrance and in the shallow layers of the passage.
Lin Yeming returned to the command console and pulled up the latest data from the Andean Geoglyphs, displaying it alongside the real-time detection data from the Royal Valley. His gaze darted between the two constantly updating sets of parameters, his brain racing, comparing every subtle difference and correspondence.
“Energy frequency in sync... stable phase difference... transmissibility of ley lines…” he murmured to himself, “They really are one. The Andes are the ‘anchor,’ and the moon here is… the ‘pivot’? Or the ‘eye’?”
Suddenly, a real-time data stream from the Andean monitoring point caught his attention—the rising trend of the underground structure energy readings, with an extremely brief and almost elusive **synchronization pulse** appearing just a few minutes earlier, perfectly matching the timestamp of a faint tremor originating from deep within the Earth's crust recorded by a sensor at the entrance to the Valley of the Kings on the Moon, with an error in the millisecond range.
“Two-way linkage…” Lin Yeming’s eyes sharpened. “It’s not a one-way suppression or reception. The sealing network between the Earth and the Moon has real-time energy fine-tuning and status feedback between the two nodes. The ‘awakening’ trend of the Andes is being sensed by the Moon, and may even… be influenced by some state here in turn.”
He immediately connected to the secure channel with the command center.
"Captain, this is Lin Yeming. I've made an important discovery."
"Please speak, Yoru." Megumi's face appeared on the screen.
“I detected a near real-time energy micro-interaction between the Earth and Moon nodes. The energy rise trend of the Andean subsurface structure is completely synchronized with a deep micro-seismic event on the Moon. This means that the two nodes are not dormant independently; they together constitute a dynamically balanced system. Any change in one node can immediately affect the other.”
Megumi's heart sank: "In other words, any exploration activities we conduct on the lunar ruins, no matter how careful we are, could potentially cause unpredictable disturbances to the Andes, or even other nodes, through this system?"
“Theoretically, this risk exists, especially if we touch a critical part of the system,” Lin Yeming admitted. “But conversely, it could also be an opportunity. If we can understand this linkage mechanism, we might be able to probe the overall state of the system from a single node in a safe and controllable way, and even… in extreme cases, attempt to intervene.”
"The risk is too great," Zong Fang shook his head. "We don't even know what's down there."
“Therefore, we need more information.” Lin Yeming insisted, “Captain, I request that the non-invasive detection range around the entrance to the Royal Valley be expanded, and that we try to use ultra-low frequency resonant scanning technology to delineate its surface topology without directly contacting the energy circuit. At the same time, I need the Andes to simultaneously monitor the earth vein fluctuations at a specific frequency to verify the linkage model.”
Intermediary Hui weighed the options. Lin Yeming's proposal was undoubtedly radical, but passively waiting might be more dangerous. The system was already loosening on its own.
"Approval is granted for ultra-low frequency resonant scanning, but energy output must be controlled at the minimum safe threshold, and a shutdown must be prepared at any time. Norizumi, coordinate with the South American branch to adjust the scanning frequency of the Andes monitoring station according to the parameters provided by Consultant Hayashi. Horii, Karen, you assist in modeling and real-time analysis of the data linkage between the two locations."
"understand!"
With the issuance of new instructions, the exploration activities at both ends of the Earth and the Moon have entered a more refined and dangerous phase of mutual verification.
As the ultra-low frequency resonant scan was initiated, the air at the entrance to the Valley of the Kings seemed to undergo a subtle distortion. There was no sound, but a muffled pulsation, below the limits of human hearing, like the beating of a giant heart, faintly transmitted through the thick lunar rock layers and spacesuits to everyone's chest. On the sensor screen, the previously blurry energy outlines began to clear, and countless complex, interwoven light patterns emerged from the inner walls of the spherical cavity, spreading outwards along the channel to form a dazzling three-dimensional topological map.
“The energy circuit is being gently activated... but it’s only a surface response, not reaching the core.” Lin Yeming stared intently at the data stream, while also monitoring the real-time feedback from the Andes monitoring station. “The frequency of the Andes ley lines fluctuations has increased by 0.3 standard units, with a model matching rate of 87%. Linkage confirmed. Karen, model correction.”
“Received. Data integration in progress... Model correction in progress.” Karen’s voice remained steady. “The energy flow path shows that the lunar node has a more complex structure. It is not only an energy hub, but also seems to contain a large number of... information encoding layers. Certain combinations of these light patterns have structural similarities to several ancient hieroglyphs recorded in old databases, but the complexity increases exponentially.”
Horii gasped. "Information encoding? You mean, this seal itself might also be a recording device? Recording information about the sealed object, or... the method and principle of the sealing?"
“The possibility is very high,” Karen replied. “However, the surface information we can currently access safely has a resolution of less than one ten-thousandth. Forcing a deeper reading would most likely trigger defense mechanisms or cause information corruption.”
Megumi's voice came through the communication channel, deep in thought: "If this is a recording device, then what 'guided' us to discover it, could it be the information itself? Or rather, a 'distress signal' or 'user manual' that this sealing system pre-set to be released under specific conditions?"
“Captain’s idea is very interesting,” Lin Yeming interjected, his gaze never leaving the ever-changing energy topology. “It could also be a kind of ‘status broadcast.’ When the system’s stability drops to a certain threshold, it will automatically broadcast a warning to the outside world, or perhaps to civilizations capable of understanding it. Our TPC’s global monitoring network just happened to reach the sensitivity threshold for receiving this kind of ‘broadcast’ at this point in time.”
"Is this so-called anomaly like that time machine from before?"
“Or,” Zongfang’s voice was low, with the wariness characteristic of a soldier, “it could be the original ‘creator’ or ‘administrator’ of the system. They foresaw that the system would decay at some point, so they left a backdoor to trigger the ‘broadcast,’ hoping that future civilizations would receive it and do something about it. But this also means that they may have also foreseen… the different choices that future civilizations might make.”
A brief silence fell over the command center. Different choices could mean repair, maintain, destroy, or... release.
Just then, the energy topology map on the main screen suddenly changed drastically. The previously flowing light patterns violently twisted at a certain node, forming a rotating, vortex-like structure. At the center of the vortex, a dark purple, highly unstable, bright energy reading suddenly spiked, and at the same time, the Andes monitoring station issued a piercing alarm—the energy reading of the underground structure was skyrocketing, and the local crustal stress index had exceeded the yellow warning line!
"What happened?!" Megumi Kijima suddenly stood up.
"The lunar node has generated unexpected, profound feedback to the resonant scan!" Lin Yeming's speech quickened, but he remained calm. "That vortex point... is not a defense mechanism. It's actively 'projecting' information, but the information flow is chaotic and carries strong emotional overtones... pain, anger, and... hunger! The Andean node is resonating synchronously, and something underground is being intensely stimulated!"
"Stop scanning! Immediately!" Megumi Kijima ordered.
“Scanning interrupted!” the lunar base operator responded.
However, the energy vortex at the lunar node did not disappear immediately. Instead, it persisted for several seconds, ejecting a chaotic yet unsettling fragment of information, which was captured by the detector and displayed on the screen. It was a series of fragmented images: a burning starry sky, a shattered earth, countless twisted and howling shadows, and finally... three completely different, colossal figures of light piercing through the heavens and earth.
One is as fiery as the sun, one shines as brightly as the stars, and one is as pure as moonlight.
The final image freezes on three beams of light jointly suppressing countless shadows and sealing them into the planet's veins, before completely dissipating.
Just as the moon had calmed down, energy was detected in South America rising sharply and remaining at a certain peak.
"Captain, an energy anomaly has been detected in South America. The Victory Team from the South American branch has been dispatched to investigate."
Kijima Megumi suddenly stood up and ordered, "Keep a close watch!"
"Furthermore, inform the nearby branches so that they can be dispatched directly to assist if necessary."
After saying all this, Megumi still felt uneasy, so she simply contacted the intelligence department and asked them to take over the investigation of the Manon aliens' whereabouts.
It seems the Victory Team's reserve team needs to be developed.
