Chapter 313 Summer is Fading
Chapter 313 Summer is Fading
Lasvia has always been the most chaotic region on Earth. This region, which borders the Empires of Amerlanci and Lucy, was once divided by Amerlanci and crushed by the heavy hammer of Lucy.
Lasvia was originally a collection of different races, and the ongoing racial feuds after Amelansi completely transformed this once unified empire into a geographical concept.
As society progressed and with the efforts of all parties, the Lasvia region eventually returned to peace. After Alice disappeared, Amerlansi had no time to attend to this eastern region. The pro-Amerlansi puppet state, as Amerlansi's strategic buffer zone, was still valued by the Eastern Theater Command.
Capitalism ultimately led to unimaginable consequences for Amerlansi. While Alice was still asleep in her hibernation pod, the so-called "royalist civil war" supported by the Lucy Empire began east of the two pro-Amerlansi states, the Donya People's Republic and the Don Republic, in western Lasvia.
Casal Lasvia, the youngest son of the former Emperor of Lasvia, known as "Lasvia I," entered the former imperial capital, Sofia, surrounded by the guards of the Lucy Empire and led by the Lucy Empire's army. There, he declared the re-establishment of the Lasvia Empire.
Sofia was once the capital of Lasvia. After the fall of the Lasvia Empire, it served as the capital of the Lasvia State, and for decades, the Lasvia military government ruled it.
The youth of Lasvia yearn for change. Even though the military government accepted the cultural and capitalist invasion of Amerinsia, its oppressive rule did not make the country better. Economic colonies and collusion between the military and businessmen gave rise to a group of Siroviks.
The youths yearned for change, and Casal Lasvia promised change. Having once escaped the capital and gone by the alias Aurore Vesalius, he completed his high school and university studies in Amelansi. He gained a profound understanding of what kind of behemoth that country, once known as the Demon Nation, was now the beacon of the world.
He had once admired the Amelancy system, but as he gained a deeper understanding and as the political situation changed, he began to realize that Amelancy was not a city on a mountaintop. This massive modern monster had quickly degenerated into a paradise for capitalist giants after Alice left.
He began to come into contact with former Lasvia royalists. The Lasvia Empire once held a place on the entire continent, and he became increasingly convinced that only a country ruled by an enlightened monarch was the most perfect and powerful country.
Indeed, the Lasvia monarchy was no better than the military government, but its promised reforms won the support of the youth. It pledged to establish a constitutional monarchy, open a parliament that had been banned during the military government era, and form an alliance with the Lucy Empire, which won it the support of a powerful nation now ruled by the northern bear-men.
Sofia, a city that has not suffered much from war, is now a place where people wave royal banners that symbolize the monarchy and watch over their new emperor.
"People of Lasvia! Your emperor has returned! Unite around me! People of Lasvia! No more division! No more submission to foreign enemies!"
"I will restore the glory of Lasvia, destroy the Siroviki Group, and drive all invaders from my land. I promise to establish a parliament and open society!"
Cheers resounded throughout Sofia. In other countries in the Lasvia region, marches in support of Casal rose up. For these pre-modern states built on the corpse of Lasvia, which of these cobbled-together states actually possessed its own political program? Apart from the Don Republic, which was supported by Amelansi and symbolized the security of Amelansi's eastern border, and the Donavian People's Republic, which was now almost entirely controlled by the National Progressive Alliance faction, they were nothing more than warlords in the guise of states.
Even within these two countries, similar protest movements broke out.
In Lugansya, the capital of the Don Republic, a march, incited by the Lasvian Empire, gathered in front of the government building demanding change, more jobs, and a higher minimum wage.
Meanwhile, the Donavian People's Republic, which was formerly the América National Progressive Alliance and is now controlled by the Donavian [Commi], immediately held an emergency expanded meeting of the Donavian Representative Conference. [Commi] immediately assembled the Donavian People's Defense Army and the Donavian Ministry of the Interior to carry out social defense tasks.
Years of communist propaganda and education within the People's Republic of Donezavian had an effect; the scattered protesters failed to incite others to join, and the number of participants in the rally was actually less than that of the "Film" band concert held in its capital, Donbaya.
Unlike Donvia, the Don Republic has an underdeveloped industry and is also home to the Emeransi military. Compared to Donvia, which is almost considered a special zone of Emeransi, the Don Republic is politically less autonomous.
The march was originally small, merely demanding government reforms. However, at this juncture, the authorities viewed it as a harbinger of an invasion by the Las Vegas Empire.
The Don Republic's adoption of the Emerinsy system had serious consequences, which were clearly exposed during the economic crisis. Emerinsy suffered little damage due to its industry, but the Don Republic, which adopted the Emerinsy system, lost a large number of jobs instantly, with almost all of its domestic enterprises going bankrupt, and its country was on the verge of collapse.
Donezavian avoided the effects of the economic crisis because of its public ownership economy, while the people demanded that the economic system be closer to that of the People's Republic of Donezavian and that public ownership be implemented.
However, the authorities viewed it as a demonstration instigated by the Las Vegas Empire, and the Ministry of State Security issued a "martial law order prohibiting assemblies and demonstrations" on its radio channels. Don soldiers and police began to take to the streets, but the government rescinded the order the next day.
Tens of thousands of students marched from the National University of Arts and the National University of Science and Technology toward Republic Square, while nearly one hundred thousand gathered in front of the government building, representing a significant proportion of the entire population of Lugansya.
People are demanding that the Republic's Interior Minister, Maikar Nagy, who has ties to the National Progressive Union, speak out. They want the Don Republic to follow its own path; they want to reject the current Emelanian system and the exploitation by capitalist groups. They want jobs and equality between employers and employees.
All of this is seen by the current president of the Republic, Gros El-Noël, as a "conspiracy of the Las Vegas Empire." Terrified, he knows that his desk contains the ill-gotten gains he has embezzled from the government budget over the years, which are stored in the Amerinsia Commercial Bank and in his several villas and estates in the Amerinsia-Provence region and on the French Riviera.
His hand reached for the telephone, for the telephone at the garrison headquarters.
