Chapter 149 Grand Celebration
Chapter 149 Grand Celebration
October 14th is the date of the founding of Ameliace in ancient Ameliace documents. When the Revivalists unearthed relevant documents, this day became the national day of modern Ameliace during discussions on national affairs.
"Wow! My little Alice, it's so lively outside!"
After five months of emergency construction, De La Leyé, though not yet a city, had a basic train station, National Liberation Square, and Progress Avenue. Tens of thousands of troops had gathered outside the still-unfinished capital, including the American Army, Navy, and Aerospace Forces. Except for the Navy's dreadnoughts which could not land, the rest of the troops were ready to go.
When the train arrived at this location, dignitaries, political and business figures, foreign envoys, and media reporters all gathered here. Amidst fireworks, confetti, and cannon salutes, a celebratory atmosphere permeated the air. Reporters pointed their cameras in various directions, and several video cameras were aimed at the scene.
The military band took their seats to the side. The musicians, selected from all over the country, held brand-new instruments and wore straight, crisp military dress uniforms modeled after the German M43 dress uniform, which they wore only on ceremonial occasions. In combat situations, they would still wear the M65HBT combat service uniform.
The upturned peaked cap cast shadows on the eyes, the gray uniforms were crisp and straight, and the white belts were made of canvas. Because the temperature in De La Leyé was low in October, the soldiers and officers wearing M43 dress uniforms were all wearing military overcoats.
The cap badges of the three services are decorated with concentric circles of red, white and blue, and the insignia of the three services are also present. The cap badges of the different services are gray, the uniforms of the navy are black, and the uniforms of the aerospace forces are dark blue.
A group of high-ranking military officers surrounded the reviewing stand, which was constructed of steel frames and wooden planks. Various wires connected the loudspeakers, and the illuminated reviewing stand could be described as a technological marvel of Amerlane.
At noon, amidst the clamor of the crowd, the bugler sounded the horn, and the melodious sound echoed throughout the parade ground. Before anyone knew it, rows and rows of troops from the three services had already lined up along the Progress Avenue.
The tricolor flag, embroidered with the ancient Amerindian phrase "Vive la nation et le peuple" in gold thread, was already being carried by the honor guard.
Alice appeared among the crowd. To signify her status as Commander-in-Chief, Alice changed into a pure white military uniform, put on a military cap, and carried the unique Grand Marshal's insignia on her shoulders.
Cheers erupted from the reviewing stand, the sun high in the sky, yet it could not compare to the brilliance of the stage. Alice straightened the microphone and gave a command in a clear voice.
"All citizens of Amelancy, today, October 14th, is a day to remember. After countless selfless sacrifices and countless silent days and nights, Amelancy, this great nation, once again stands tall on the earth!"
"For the nation and the people, for freedom and equality, for Amelansi! Citizens! I, Alice de la Leah, President of the Federal Republic of Amelansi, declare the Day Parade officially open!"
The melody of "La Marseillaise" burst forth from the military band, as people waved their tricolor flags and shouted the name of their nation. Today, families in Amelansi have their own homes.
The honor guard, carrying the national flag high, their boots echoing in the air, the flags waving as the flag slowly rose to the accompaniment of the Marseillaise. The three services honor guard carried the flags of the military regions, with the tricolor flag as the base and the flags of the Armed Forces of America – Army, Navy, and Aerospace Force – on the other side. Behind the three honor guards carrying the national flag, and behind the tricolor flags of a golden sword, anchor, and eagle, were the flags of the various meritorious military regions, also with the tricolor flag as the base and the names of the units embroidered in gold thread.
The formation wasn't perfectly orderly, but everyone was undoubtedly a veteran of war. Following the honor guard carrying Carcano rifles, the FA FAL automatic rifles appeared in the hands of the three-service infantry contingent. Since the FAL automatic rifle was proven to be an excellent automatic rifle during Operation Arc Light, it has become the next-generation individual weapon for Amelansi.
The marching contingent passed by amidst cheers from the crowd, followed closely by the steel armor of the Republic. Three Willys Jeeps, battlefield taxis, led a group of armored vehicles forward. The Willys Jeeps are a powerful tool for solving the "last mile" problem on the battlefield and are also the next-generation standard light vehicle for the Armed Forces of Amerlane.
Following closely behind were twelve 38T tanks, their exteriors bearing numerous ricochet marks and ash. Most of the tanks had white circles painted on their gun barrels, representing their combat achievements. The tank commanders emerged from the cupola, saluting the reviewing stand.
Following the 38T were the M4 Sherman tanks, mostly the M4A2 model with welded hulls. All the tanks were fully equipped for combat use, with various camouflage nets, Browning heavy machine guns, self-rescue logs, field tool kits, ammunition pouches, and additional tracks. The roaring tanks rolled over the asphalt road, eliciting gasps from domestic and foreign reporters and envoys.
If infantry weaponry represented a revolution in modern warfare, then Amelansi's steel torrent represented a comprehensive transformation of warfare!
Steel chariots will be invincible on the battlefield, while infantry will only become food for these steel beasts!
Because Alice emphasized versatility, the M4A2 chassis was modified in various ways by the Amerlane Vehicle Equipment Department. After the main M4A2, the M7 self-propelled gun followed in its footsteps. As Amerlane's first generation of self-propelled artillery, the M7 self-propelled gun can be said to be an epoch-making piece of equipment.
But that's not all. Medical transport vehicles and engineering tanks were also present. A total of 120 armored vehicles of various types, based on the chassis of the Sherman M4A2 tank, rumbled past. The observing team tensed up, and many foreign envoys stared wide-eyed at those tall and powerful steel vehicles.
In any case, the war has been changed.
Six SD.KFZ.251 half-track armored vehicles were subsequently deployed. The entire army was about to be mechanized or motorized. Many generals had already read the relevant books several times. In Amerlane, sometimes theory was more advanced than reality.
