Chapter 112 Anti-penetration Deployment
Chapter 112 Anti-penetration Deployment
"I'm so sorry, Your Highness, we've been tracking these people for a long time! We almost caught them all a few days ago!"
Olina Christopher, gripping her custom-made M870 shotgun, beckoned two of her men to restrain Ella Silverblade. She glanced at the broken bricks at Ella's feet, then at Alice, who was clapping her hands; she could clearly see some brick fragments being knocked down.
We're doomed!
Olina Christopher knew this was a serious dereliction of duty. Ella Silverblade and her gang had been infiltrating Trian for quite some time, and the Secret Intelligence Service had to mobilize most of its Northern Bureau field agents to barely find their trail, and they almost let her succeed.
"Oh, my poor fellow countryman, it's just our fate... Take her away, handcuff and shackle her!"
"Your Highness."
Alice nodded, took the lollipop out of her mouth, its thin silver threads glistening in the moonlight. Alice said, "It seems the Secret Intelligence Bureau's work..."
Olina Christopher was somewhat frightened. After all, Alice was the one who built the Secret Intelligence Service and promoted her to director. Now, due to the Secret Intelligence Service's mistake, Alice was attacked. Although she was silent now, she was actually panicking. She handed the shotgun to her subordinate, otherwise she couldn't even hold the gun properly.
"Your Highness! This was a mistake by the Secret Intelligence Service. I, Olina Christopher, swear on my life that this will never happen again!"
Olina Christoph stood at attention and swore in the most serious tone. Alice glanced at her sideways, straightened up from beside the pile of planks, and patted her on the shoulder on tiptoe.
"We can talk about it at the bureau; it's not convenient here."
"Yes!"
Olina Christopher felt like she'd been granted a pardon. She nodded and walked down the stairs with Alice. Below, there were cars, agents, and national police. The cordon was already set up, and fully armed agents and police were stationed everywhere. Several surviving assassins were kneeling in a row with their heads in their hands. An agent was even carrying a machine gun, which he was aiming at.
"Chief, Your Highness, all suspects have been apprehended. Eight have been killed and seven have been arrested."
"This matter has been taken over by the Secret Intelligence Bureau. Take it back to the non-existent location."
"Yes."
"Ah, Ms. Olina, Your Highness."
A man in a police uniform stands at attention and salutes. He is Brett Carter, the National Police Secretary, nicknamed "Black Cat." As a retired major from the 1st Infantry Division, he exudes a chilling aura.
Alice nodded to indicate that his greeting was complete, and Brett Carter withdrew his hand. The National Police Department was a rapidly expanding department, and Alice patted him on the shoulder.
“Mr. Brett Carter, please come along.”
"Yes, Your Highness."
Something terrible is about to happen, Brett Carter thought. This is an assassination attempt targeting the princess! You must know that the princess is one of the most important figures in the world, and the hope for the development of the entire country.
The fact that the National Police Department, as a grassroots police force, had failed to perform its duties made him feel somewhat embarrassed. Fortunately, the Secret Intelligence Service was the same; there was no one to punish everyone, so he calmed down a bit.
He noticed the vest Alice was wearing, with its separated horizontal stripes, several orderly open pockets filled with magazines, and bags stuck in the stripes. He immediately realized that this was not a prop for a girl's outfit, especially the submachine gun on Alice's chest, which was attached to her chest with a strap that was fixed to the two shoulder straps of the vest.
If the police had such equipment, they would be better prepared when facing criminals, he thought to himself.
The escorting convoy was impressive, and the police cars were reinforced Ford Model A modified versions with enhanced power systems, added sirens, and barbed wire separating the rear seats from the front seats.
Amidst the blaring of alarms, Alice and two crucial leaders entered the Secret Intelligence Service's "non-existent" headquarters.
Today's events served as a wake-up call for her. She needed to review the operation reports from the Secret Intelligence Service and the National Police Department, which happened to be located next to each other and cooperated very frequently.
The conference room lights were turned on, and the heads of various departments from both sides entered the conference room one after another. Alice stood on the stage, reading the Secret Intelligence Service report.
Alice acknowledged that the report submitted by the Secret Intelligence Service was written in strict accordance with the prescribed format, but questioned its professionalism in terms of content.
"Did the field agents violate regulations during surveillance operations, thus alerting the enemy?"
"Did the reconnaissance operation fail because the car was too conspicuous?"
"Insufficient vehicle horsepower prevents tracking?"
What is all this about? There are even records of field agents being arrested by the national police while on missions. It's a complete mess. No wonder Ella Silverblade and her gang were able to hold out in Trian for so long. Many of these mistakes were unnecessary, and many of them were due to poor communication with other departments.
Alice laid out the notes and began, “Ladies and gentlemen! A terrible incident occurred in Trian today. We were attacked by a southern assassin, but fortunately, she made a mistake and failed!”
Everyone looked grim, after all, it was Alice who had been assassinated!
Alice continued, "Ella Silverblade and her gang have been in Trian for more than a few days, but the Secret Intelligence Service and the National Police have failed to launch a single effective attack against them. This is a dereliction of duty by the Secret Intelligence Service and the National Police."
“But we’re not here to reprimand you today. We’re here to resolve the issue. This operation report reveals the mistakes of the Secret Intelligence Service, and also the National Police Department—that is, their lack of professionalism!”
"It is a disgrace that the secret intelligence agency failed to establish communication with the national police during the operation, resulting in the arrest of agents and the diversion of the target."
"I propose the establishment of a joint operations office, under the jurisdiction of the Secret Intelligence Service, responsible for communication with other national agencies. Ladies and gentlemen, the Secret Intelligence Service has a higher priority than all national security agencies, without a doubt. All agencies, including the military, must cooperate with the Secret Intelligence Service."
"The Secret Intelligence Service itself recruits field agents who are seriously unprofessional. I know we all lack professional agents, but I have not seen the Secret Intelligence Service provide professional training for its agents. The low level of professionalism of the agents in the field will greatly undermine the feasibility of our operations."
The only sounds in the meeting room besides Alice's voice were the rustling of notebooks. Alice nodded and continued announcing her measures:
