There is a god in the sky

Chapter 13 Zhongyuan Chapter Sacrifice 3

Chapter 13 Zhongyuan Chapter Sacrifice 3

Guan Shu was a little scared and grabbed Xiao Ji, saying, "Young Master, why don't we leave? It's getting dark, and if we delay any longer, we won't be able to reach the county town."

Suiying slapped his hand away and scolded, "My master is a man of integrity. Even ghosts would avoid him if they saw him. If you're afraid, stay here and don't move."

Guan Shu looked around, but eventually followed them into the thicket of weeds.

They arrived outside Guli Town along the newly opened, narrow path.

"How strange, there's actually a small town here!" Sui Feng exclaimed in surprise, looking at the tall archway.

"This town must have been abandoned for a long time."

Even from a great distance, they could see that there were no houses or people in the town.

Xiao Ji walked over and saw the words on the archway clearly. "Guli Town? I feel like I've heard of it somewhere before."

A piece of white paper money was blown by the wind onto Xiao Ji's face. He reached out and grabbed it, his face immediately darkening.

A clean sheet of paper money, for the dead.

Sure enough, someone was there to offer sacrifices.

Looking up again, they all saw paper money floating in the air, falling gently as if a white rain had fallen.

"Damn..."

Guanshu jumped high and hung on Suifeng's back, one hand trembling as he pointed ahead.

Not far from them, a man in white approached them with strange steps; his face was blue and fanged, making him look extremely terrifying.

Sui Feng threw the person on his back to the ground, drew his sword and stood in front of his master, while Sui Ying immediately drew his sword and rushed out.

"Stop!" Xiao Ji shouted.

He saw clearly that it was a person wearing a mask.

He had seen this kind of mask and clothing before; they were used by folk messengers to guide the souls of the deceased.

It seems someone has died here.

Wei Lanxiang also saw the four people standing outside the town.

Her hand holding the bell trembled slightly, making a "ding-a-ling" sound. She then drew a circle with her left foot, turned her body, and finally stopped moving.

She learned these moves from Old Master Wei, but she didn't know how good they were; she had only ever demonstrated them in Guli Town.

Wei Lanxiang was somewhat embarrassed to encounter a stranger.

Sui Ying pointed his sword at Wei Lanxiang and asked in a deep voice, "Who are you? Why are you playing tricks here?"

Wei Lanxiang lowered one hand, and a thin scalpel fell into her palm.

"Who are you?"

Because this place is haunted, no one dares to come here normally, and it's not near the main road, so these people's appearance was too sudden.

Xiao Ji strode over, pressed down the sword that was following him, and cupped his hands in greeting to Wei Lanxiang.

"Excuse me, my attendant was too rude. May I ask, young lady, who you are performing a ritual for here?"

How do you know I'm a girl?

Wei Lanxiang is dressed in men's clothing today, with a men's white robe and a mask. How could this person tell her gender at a glance?

Xiao Ji tilted his head and looked her over. "Girl, your figure... if you were a man, you would lack masculinity."

Wei Lanxiang remained noncommittal, and before turning to leave, she said, "Please leave, everyone, and do not disturb the spirits of the dead here."

Today is the Ghost Festival. According to folklore, the gates of the underworld open at midnight tonight. If the people of Guli Town are still in the underworld, they should come back for a visit, right?

Wei Lanxiang is not afraid of ghosts.

If ghosts truly exist, she wants to see her loved ones one more time.

"How strange, performing rituals in this ghostly place during the Ghost Festival, could it be that they've done something wrong?"

Sui Feng crossed his arms and said bluntly.

Wei Lanxiang glanced at him coldly and did not answer his question.

Xiao Ji scolded, "Don't be rude to the young lady. Her outfit looks like it's been used for many years. The Nuo dance she just performed was a professional one."

He clasped his hands in a fist and bowed, saying, "We apologize for disturbing you. We will take our leave now."

Before leaving, Xiao Ji took one last look at the dark plaque. This place had once been the site of a great fire. The so-called ghosts were probably the townspeople.

Guli Town... is the town that disappeared because of an epidemic.

It turns out there are still survivors in the town.

Xiao Ji didn't take it too seriously. Judging from her voice, the girl was only a teenager. She was just a child during the plague back then.

I guess someone hired her to perform a ritual.
