Chapter 386 Seducing Yi Fanxi (1)
Chapter 386 Seducing Yi Fanxi (1)
Watching Chi Moqing's retreating figure as he went to the kitchen to wash the dishes, Yan Zuozuo felt a tightness in her chest. She wasn't sure if what Stephen said was true, and she really wanted to ask Chi Moqing, but she was also afraid that the result would be too much for her to bear.
She admitted that she felt pathetic, not even daring to ask such a question. The more she cherished this marriage and the more she cared about this man, the more timid she became, and the more afraid she was of someone or something trying to ruin it.
Chi Moqing quietly washed the dishes, knowing that Yan Zuozuo had been staring at him for a long time. He didn't speak, but he knew what she was thinking. She wanted to ask about him and Leng Yan, but now wasn't the right time to explain.
He was also afraid and worried. If he told his young wife the whole story, would their relationship still be the same as before?
What should have taken ten minutes to wash took Chi Moqing a full twenty minutes. By the time he put the dishes back in their place, Yan Zuozuo had already gone back to her bedroom. He breathed a sigh of relief, but his heart couldn't find peace.
He entered the room a while later and saw his wife sitting on the bed in a daze. His heart ached, and he pulled her into his arms. "Wife, believe me, no matter what happened before, my heart and soul belong only to you."
Are you alone?
"So, you and Leng Yan... were you really in the same bed...?" Her voice was filled with fear.
Chi Moqing stiffened. In the end, he still asked.
"It was on the same bed..." He held her tightly, afraid that she would ask more questions or refuse to let him get closer.
Hearing his words, Yan Zuozuo's heart sank. After a long pause, she asked, "So you...you..."
"Wife! Don't overthink it, things aren't what you think." Chi Moqing interrupted her, holding her even tighter. "Zuo Zuo, believe me, the person in my heart has always been you, the person I love will always be you, and that has never changed."
"So, you're still... asleep?" Yan Zuozuo slowly closed her eyes, feeling as if a huge hole had been punched in her chest, making it hard to breathe.
“That’s not how it is…” Chi Moqing buried his head in Yan Zuozuo’s shoulder. “Wife, promise me you won’t overthink things. When I come back, I will explain everything to you.”
Yan Zuozuo felt as if all her strength had been drained away. She leaned against Chi Moqing's chest, and for a moment she dared not ask any more questions.
They were still sleeping on the same bed...
She couldn't force herself to pretend that nothing had happened.
She knew that men always had women before marriage, even if it wasn't for love, they could still have a relationship. But Chi Moqing was different. He had said that the only person he had ever loved was her, and he was never one to mess around with women.
He didn't do anything inappropriate, but he still slept with that woman. Doesn't that mean he still has feelings for her?
She felt so tired that she didn't have the strength or the courage to ask any more questions. She turned over and lay on the bed, wrapped herself tightly in the blanket, and covered her head with it.
Chi Moqing felt heartbroken seeing her like this, his deep eyes filled with coldness.
Honey, if you knew the truth, would you push me away?
The next day, Stephen had just finished his IV drip at the hospital and was about to rest for a while when, before he could even close his eyes, Chi Moqing appeared out of nowhere in front of him, giving him quite a fright. He thought his training skills were already at a high level, but compared to Chi Moqing, he was utterly helpless.
Chi Moqing sat on the sofa in the hospital room, looking at him with a cold expression. Stephen wasn't particularly happy either, and gave a cold snort, "Didn't we agree on everything last night? What are you doing here?"
"Last night was last night, now is now."
Upon hearing this, Stephen nearly overturned the table in anger, his face darkening. "Chi Moqing, what exactly do you want to do?"
Chi Moqing slammed a stack of documents down in front of him, looking down at him condescendingly. "President Stephen, surely you're familiar with these things?"
Stephen was taken aback, then glared fiercely at Chi Moqing. He had always disliked people smarter than himself, especially someone like Chi Moqing, who made him feel completely transparent in front of him, with no privacy whatsoever.
"Mr. Stephen, would you like to take a look at what's inside, or should I analyze it for you one by one to show you the consequences of fabricating this evidence?"
Stephen pursed his lips and remained silent. He didn't need to lie in front of Chi Moqing; this man always had a way of seeing through him anyway.
"President Stephen, I know very well how much you don't want to see me. But I also want to tell you that I have sufficient evidence to prove that you provided this false testimony. Of course, you can deny it, but as for the consequences..."
"Chi Moqing, what exactly do you want to do!" Stephen could no longer hold back and roared, "I agreed to everything you said last night, what else do you want to do?"
He was a top figure in the mafia, but in front of Chi Moqing, he felt that his reputation was completely ruined!
Chi Moqing's handsome face was sneered as he looked at Stephen with utter mockery. "How can you blame me? If anyone is to blame, it's President Stephen for being so careless. He's supposed to be a mafia boss, yet he left himself with this weakness. Tsk tsk."
Stephen gritted his teeth, glaring at him with resentment.
Chi Moqing raised an eyebrow: "I will handle the matter of the false testimony for you, so you don't need to worry that this matter will implicate you and cause more trouble."
There's no such thing as a free lunch. Stephen looked at Chi Moqing warily. "As far as I know, President Chi isn't that easy to talk to."
"That's a misunderstanding on President Stephen's part. Just like this time, didn't I help you out?"
Stephen sneered: "Let's not beat around the bush. President Chi, just say what your purpose is."
"Regarding last night's collaboration, I'd like to add one more point."
Fifteen minutes later, Chi Moqing left the ward. Strangely, Stephen, who was originally supposed to be hospitalized for observation, was discharged that same day. However, his face looked terrible, and the ward he had stayed in looked like it had been hit by a typhoon.
Inside the villa, Stephen was absolutely furious. He was a high-ranking Mafia boss, yet he was being completely played like a fool by Chi Moqing. He clenched his fists, wishing he could kill that man right then and there!
What a load of bull! He originally planned to use Yan Zuozuo to avenge his godfather, but now he's being threatened and forced to protect Yan Zuozuo while Chi Moqing is away. Then, he added a clause: be ready to respond at any time!
Holy crap, damn it! Wasn't that guy supposed to be going to Germany? What's with the "on standby" thing? Who does he think he is, Stephen? Does he think he can order him around like a slave?
The problem is, he was actually being bossed around!
Damn, he slammed his fist against the wall, a punch that barely contained a fraction of the rage within him.
He could certainly mobilize the Mafia and arrest Yan Zuozuo to threaten him. However, Chi Moqing's identity was not simple. If he really harmed Yan Zuozuo, it would likely bring disaster to the entire Mafia, which was absolutely unacceptable!
But damn it, is he really so easily manipulated?
Stephen closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and it took him a long time to calm down. If he couldn't confront Chi Moqing head-on, he would have to change his strategy.
Chi Moqing called Yan Zuozuo and said that the person who forged the evidence had been caught. It was Huang Shikun who did it. He was too busy to take care of himself right now, so she didn't need to worry about him.
Yan Zuozuo breathed a sigh of relief. Although she still harbored some resentment towards Chi Moqing, she was still concerned about his well-being. Leaning back in her office chair, she wearily rubbed her eyes, unconsciously recalling Stephen's phone call.
Judy knocked and came in, carrying a cup of coffee. Just as she was about to speak, she saw Judy's preoccupied expression and said with a sarcastic sneer, "You have worries too?"
Yan Zuozuo took a sip of her coffee: "If you have it, why can't I?"
“That’s different. You have a successful career, a happy family, and no worries about food or clothing. You even have a child, and you still have such a great figure and face. There’s no reason for you to have any worries.” Judy raised an eyebrow at her, thinking this woman was so lucky it made her jealous. Suddenly, her eyes lit up, and she leaned closer to Yan Zuozuo, “Or is your husband cheating on you?”
Yan Zuozuo stiffened, a pang of pain shooting through her heart. However, she maintained a calm expression. "It seems you've been too idle lately. I'll let you know..."
"No, no, no, I've been so busy lately, please don't make things harder for me." Judy quickly begged for mercy, then sat down in front of Yan Zuozuo with an excited look on her face. "Can I ask you for a favor?"
Yan Zuozuo took a sip of coffee and knew there was no such thing as a free lunch. "Go ahead and say it."
Judy chuckled: "Yan Zuozuo, help me make an appointment with Yi Fanxi. I want to treat him to dinner."
Yan Zuozuo looked at her amusedly: "Why don't you make the appointment yourself?"
Judy was annoyed: "If I could make the arrangements myself, would I need to ask you for help?" She had invited Yi Fanxi to dinner at least ten times, but each time he refused with a cold face, as if someone owed him money. If only it were that simple, she, the young lady, had plenty of money.
But that's not the case at all. The problem is that Yi Fanxi isn't interested in her at all? This is a blatant insult to her personal charm! This is intolerable! She won't give up so easily. She'll become more determined after each setback. She refuses to believe that with her charm as a young lady, she can't win over this young heartthrob, Yi Fanxi.
Yan Zuozuo looked at her for a while. It wasn't that she couldn't help, but...
"Wouldn't it be too obvious if I asked him out like this? If he becomes suspicious and doesn't reveal anything to me in the future, wouldn't you be the one who suffers?" Yan Zuozuo's words immediately made Zhu Xi frown. Yes, if Yi Fanxi knew that Yan Zuozuo was a spy and that he got all his information from her, what if he stopped being with Yan Zuozuo? How would she understand him in the future?
"What should we do then?" Julie asked, frowning in distress.
“I do have an idea.” A glint of light flashed in Yan Zuozuo’s eyes as she beckoned to Juliet to come closer.
In Judy's apartment, Yan Zuozuo was utterly speechless. Someone tell her, all she asked was to clog the drain, how could she make the house look like it had been flooded?
